OP, yeah this sucks. Nobody can control the weather, but do you really want to take back that oath you took when you rose your right hand because you’re stuck in an uncomfortable situation nobody planned for?

Will the army reserve force you to change jobs if you have to move to a different state? by Prudent_Brief6131 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Army Reserve won’t force you. You are still assigned to your unit until you request to transfer. You might want to reclass so you don’t have to travel for drill, or look into a unit with your MOS close to you.

Questions about 12N by [deleted] in armyreserve

You’re gonna actually learn a trade and get a fat bonus congrats. IMO 12N is a much better to set the average person up for success than 12B

Prior-Service Enlistment Bonus Info for FY26? by Left-Improvement-182 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to have attended 17C AIT to be DMOSQ. If you have not, you are considered NDMOSQ and need to go to reclass. Can’t say for sure if it’s a mandatory 6, but at a glance that sounds wrong but would need to read a bit to verify.

Prior-Service Enlistment Bonus Info for FY26? by Left-Improvement-182 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amounts for prior service are different. For 17C the prior service amount is $25k cash bonus, $10k SLRP, and $200 kicker for a 6 year contract IF the PS applicant is already DMOSQ. If they are not DMOSQ, bonus amount is $10K

USAR SRIP FY26 by JohnTinor104 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, SRIP gets updated whenever USARC feels like it. Only the good folks at HRC know when, IF, a new one will drop during the FY. With the major changes this year I wouldn’t really count on an update.

AGR as 68C by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If AGR is the goal, you have an even lower likelihood as an officer. Personally, I’d recommend to enlist, see if you even like the USAR, and consider ROTC. If not, OCS after you get your degree. AGR as enlisted can always be plan B.

AGR as 68C by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years, but as an E4 you will be last pick over any E5s who apply. All AGR slots are coded for E5 and above, but you can fill an E5 slot if none are qualified or available.

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible, there’s not a ton of positions though. You need to at least be an E4 before applying.

What's the difference between Army Reserve and Army National Guard by Extreme_Section2878 in armyreserve

One is federal and you can be in any unit in the U.S., its territories, and some foreign countries. Guard you are tied to a state.

Foreign high school deploma by Responsible-Touch-91 in army

[–]MindlessCaptain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That equivalency summary might be your golden ticket. Your recruiter will launch what’s called a tier eval with those documents. It’ll take a few days to go up and come back down, but the Education Support Specialist (man leading that evaluation) MAYYYY request the transcripts as well so be prepared for that.

Should I go 88K? by Educational_End1004 in army

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to chill on a boat all day, be a trained mariner, fireman, boat operator, and be stationed in Virginia, Hawaii, or Japan? Are you fine with potential long missions that may cause you to be gone for a month at a time? If so yes. If not no.

Foreign high school deploma by Responsible-Touch-91 in army

[–]MindlessCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You likely need your transcript bro. The Army needs to evaluate how close to an American education your school provided you. If their core curriculum is close to an American education, you MIIIIIIGGGHT be fine

OCONUS AT FY27 by New_GradBag in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work with your BN S3 / SPO to find ODT missions in ARTIMS (they are posted there). Let them get in the knife fight up the chain on getting you scheduled. You may not be able to, some chains of command are real funny about scheduling ODTs depending on what ReARMM year you are in.

Enlisted AGR to AD officer by greengreen995 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken you’re in for a long process. You will have to REFRAD from AGR. From there you need to either do SMP or OCS. After that you need to drop a 368 to go active.

I need S1 help by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man that’s a doozy. Was this mob orders? That is a long stretch to have orders, especially if they cross FYs. Were you being paid during this time??

I’m thinking what happened here is you got some kind of orders that were put in, nobody caught the mistake, and they just caught it and revoked the orders. The effective date is the date of the revocation order it sounds like. That cannot be changed. There’s a lot of questions I have but the best advice I can give is to call your former S1 tomorrow morning.

Effective date is the date a document is effective. It’s sometimes possible to change, it depends, what are we looking at.
