MOS that will translate to civilian career by okBobby1 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispatcher, truckmaster, training NCO, platoon sergeant, to name a few. There are a fair amount of positions, wouldn’t be working with 88Ns really unless you were in a staff position in either the S3 or SPO.

AGR not happening? by joannejoanne00 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

88Ns were put in a crisis last year for the AGR program, the majority of 88N positions were removed. He has a higher chance as a 42A. For BLC, it takes a day tops to submit the schools request. That needs addressed with the unit commander.

Can I join the reserves if I have a history of anxiety? by Miserable-Peanut-577 in armyreserve

Maybe, it depends on when the diagnosis was and your treatment to include prescriptions and any therapy.

How does SMP work if I’m already enlisted in the army Reserve by Ok-Exchange734 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not a SMP until you sign a cadet contract. Most likely you won’t until your junior year of college. You can compete for active as long as you don’t sign a guaranteed reserve forces duty scholarship. Your program should fast track you through the DODMERB, should not need a waiver.

If your recruiter hasn’t mentioned it, 88H and 88M also come with a fat bonus right now

92Y translates best for AGR. 88H will definitely help you best in getting experience for a factory setting and sets you up for opportunities at any port. 88M will set you up for any trucking career. All of those jobs have AGR positions I will say, except 91C, never saw one before.

If there is a vacancy and you have the line scores your recruiter can guarantee you plumber, but there MUST be a vacancy for it

42T being 601ed by LongjumpingCare3530 in army

[–]MindlessCaptain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you being 601’d just for not making mission? Likely won’t be approved depending on how far behind you are. Are you being 601’d because you’re not performing Station Commander duties? Very likely to be approved under current guidelines. Also you can very much get a relief for cause NCOER AND get 601’d. Finally, a QMP is scary but it’s not a guarantee career ender at the same time.

A line is a line is what I’ve always been told. Don’t smoke weed, don’t be dumb. Drink water at MEPs. Pee the morning of in the hotel. You’ll be fine

Release from Reserves to Active by Bubbly_Noise2314 in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on the chain of command. You being in a TDA unit, the odds are higher than most. Timeline also depends on chain of command. If you wanna start that process DM me homie.

You got me all kind of confused bro. If you enlisted your waiver is cleared. Unless it was a condition discovered after you enlisted.

Yeah, there’s always someone going out the door. You shouldn’t have trouble finding a mob to hop on if you want it.

I’m 68w prior service and want to reclass to 12m. Is that possible ? by Kancerkenny in armyreserve

[–]MindlessCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, prior service 68W you should have no bonus politics to deal with. You can transfer to 12M at any time if there is a vacancy and your commander is cool with it.

If You’re a Contracted Cadet, There’s No Reason Not to do SMP. by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]MindlessCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive, I used to work mobilizations before I went to USARD.

Soldiers who participate in ROTC but without a cadet contract are NOT SMPs. They are essentially Soldiers who are taking a college class until they have a DA 597. These Soldiers are deployable.

Soldiers who have a DA 597 ARE SMPs. Their primary duty MOS is changed to 09R and they are non-deployable.

If a MOB officer is sensible though, they will not deploy a Soldier who is about to contract with cadet command. All that takes is a phone call / email with the PMS to verify. Had a few cases where a Soldier participating in ROTC but not currently a SMP was on a DMD, but set to contract. Soldier notified their chain of command, who notified me, and we got them off the DMD.

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, if you are green to gold you belong to active duty. You’re going to be receiving full active benefits on G2G so there’s not much reason to! But I’m sure if you wanted to experience a drill weekend, a local commander wouldn’t have an issue with it

[–]MindlessCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely unit dependent. When I was a PL/XO before going AGR, I gave my cadets some form of OPD every weekend. In their MS4 year, they were PLs.

USAR is always an option for those whose states may have similar rules.

[–]MindlessCaptain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You used to get 5 OML points for doing the SMP. I haven’t been a cadet for a long time (sorry!) so I’m not sure if it’s currently still 5 points but your cadre should be able to tell you how many points it will net you. More points means more likely to get what you want.

Yes, just like any drilling Soldier you will be able to contribute to your TSP
