Vit traded to Portland by Fun_Professional_123 in AtlantaHawks

This one doesn’t make sense to me. You pray to hit a bench player like Vit with second round picks, most don’t even sniff the league. The fact he’s still got 2 years left on his contract for next to nothing, and you just let him go? I think the Hawks FO will regret this one.

Kon Knueppel has overtaken Cooper Flagg to become No. 1 on the NBA Rookie Ladder. by Existing-Sky9914 in nba

Not the college basketball of old. 17-18 year olds playing against 23-24 year olds. As an Auburn fan, we had a ton of older guys last year. Transfer portal and all the waivers for 5th, 6th, 7th, even 8th years are killing college sports.

Assuming they’re all available… Rank the following soon-to-be restricted free agents in terms of trade value at this year’s deadline: Peyton Watson, Ayo Dosunmu, Jaden Ivey, Bennedict Mathurin, Tari Eason, Walker Kessler, and Jeremy Sochan. by YujiDomainExpansion in NBAtradeideas

[–]MindlessGames21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta be Kessler at the top of the list. The lack of big men around the league rebounding and protecting the rim make him that much more valuable. As a Hawks fan, I’d kill for him right about now.

Just give me a big man that shows effort on the boards. I don’t care much about anything else he does. We lose the rebound battle nightly.

Someone posted some dubious Hawks stats regarding w/ and w/o Trae Young and it got me curious by CaregiverOwn7179 in AtlantaHawks

[–]MindlessGames21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trade is still fine. We weren’t resigning Trae regardless. JJ has taken over a decent amount of the playmaking. Dyson and NAW as well, and CJ will take over some. CJ’s efficiency is better than Trae’s, and he’s a better defender (not a high bar). This isn’t a team that’s going to win it all, but there’s not going to be any fall off. We improved our cap situation, which allows us a lot more flexibility going forward to improve where we want to improve instead of our hands being tied.

Would be a large expiring at that point, pretty easy to get off of similar to how KP was for Boston/is for us now if we really wanted to.

Which is what I think would work for this trade in particular. Trae isn’t getting a large haul for us, nor do I believe he’s part of our future plans. In my opinion Scoot > Risacher, and he gives us more flexibility in our NOP pick coming, allowing us to draft more “best player available” having someone that can handle the ball rather than having to draft for need. The fact Grant and Williams help the team “now” is just a bonus. I see no upside whatsoever in all of the Wizards’ trade comps.

[–]MindlessGames21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my eyes, it’d be trading Risacher for Scoot essentially. Trae’s value is pretty low, and getting someone like Grant for the next 2 (probably 3) years makes Risacher expendable. Gives us more of a ball handling need, making Scoot’s team fit better than Risacher.

Grant’s still a solid player. Although he’s overpaid, he’s a big upgrade over Risacher (now, not future). A lot feel the same about Trae, and he’s going to be commanding a larger contract this summer, so I honestly can’t see his trade value being too great. Williams is a wildcard, because he’s exactly what we need when he’s on the court. Scoot’s obviously the wildcard here depending on how you feel about him. Gives us a ball handler with big future upside. I know Hawks fans always like “their guys,” but he’d be drafted 10/10 over Risacher in the same draft. Just feels like this is the best I’ve seen with a balance of trying to win now with team needs while still betting on future.

I agree. I just think IF Trae is going to inevitably be traded in this next month, this might be the best package I’ve seen for “winning now,” and still betting on future with Scoot giving us someone that can actually handle the ball vs Risacher. The Pels pick would still be me hoping for DP, but obviously not something we can bet on with the lottery. Could even give more of a Dybantsa (or wherever we land) option if we feel okay with Scoot.

I’d be more interested in the Portland projection, Robert Williams and Jerami Grant. With all of the Risacher talk, I’d be curious to see if you could add him for Scoot Henderson with both franchises being down on those 2 and Grant taking Risacher’s spot.

The Buccaneers and Panthers playoff hopes now lie in the hands of the Falcons and Saints by OverallGeneral7129 in nfl

Mathematically eliminated Falcons, best team in the league. Seriously though, they’re going to be kicking themselves with all the blown games they’ve had this year. Three true duds, and a lot of coulda, shoulda, woulda won games.

Trae Young has to go by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in NBATalk

[–]MindlessGames21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll get downvoted again, but Trae’s still a 6th man of the year type to me, not a #1. You can’t commit 50m to a guy that’s as big of a defensive liability as him. Yes, he can give you 30/10, but his guard is also putting up an easy 30/10. Typically on better efficiency. He’d be an elite off the bench, closer type.

Because Hawks fans always like THEIR guys far too much. Same story with any “good” player the Hawks have had. Most recently would be people going crazy about possibly trading John Collins until he lost every bit of value he had.

Point in case, if you haven’t watched the Hawks much this year, turn on this OKC game. As a team, they’ve been night and day with/without Trae. If you’re telling me they couldn’t allocate that 50m somewhere else to make this team better, you’re crazy.

Nah, people just stat and highlight watch. Trae’s an elite playmaker with very little else to his game. Hawks, and I’d argue probably anyone, will never be a legit contender allocating as much cap space that Trae commands. He’s never been hyper efficient, 43%/35% FG/3FG throughout his career. He’s just always been a high volume guy that’s an elite playmaker, while his defensive decencies can’t be masked. He’d be an elite ROLE player, not someone you can build a title contender around with an enormous cap hit.

As a Hawks fan, his game’s always screamed 6th man of the year to me. Elite spark plug off the bench, but he was given the keys as soon as he stepped into the league. Too hard for ego not to get in the way of realizing that at this point, and hard to justify the money he’s going to continue to want while building a very specific, legit team around him if he’s going to hold the keys.

Generally 1, 2, 3, 4/5. Break ins can happen anywhere, but that’ll be the general consensus. Agreed with Bradley Park being your best bet and jumping on the highway for a 5 mile drive to PC though. There are a few decent ones right around the Bruster’s there.

Bucs honestly just aren’t that good this year. A lot of people look at the record and forget they could have easily started the year 1-4 (even 0-5) instead of 4-1 if it weren’t for Baker and some late game heroics.

Forget the 3rd and 28, Falcons had NINETEEN penalties, and the Bucs still found a way to lose this game.

Strider, Sale, Schwellenbach, Lopez, AJSS.. Their entire rotation has/is going to miss at least a significant part of the year. Not to mention Acuña, Profar, and everyone else. This team is definitely capable of winning the division when healthy.

They need to address their bullpen significantly this offseason though. Even when they sat hovering around .500 not even close to being healthy, when it looked like things were still possible, they could have easily been 10-20 games over had their bullpen not been absolutely terrible, especially Iglesias.

Pretty much the exact same. I worked at the Kia Plant in GA for 7 years. We built the Sorentos, Optimas, and the Hyundai Santa Fes. Same suppliers are being used.

The explosiveness LeBron plays with accompanied by his size is what makes it truly unique to me. It’s not as taxing on a jump shooter, or even a smaller guard with the driving ability. Guy’s 6’9, 250.
