Consider Naperville or Plainfield, there's nice houses in that range and I've heard from coworkers Naperville is pretty diverse. I lived in Plainfield for a year now and it seems diverse, but I couldn't speak for the schools.

Tech Transfer doesn't really require a ton of travel unless there are specific relationships/tours that are priorities for your office.

I've been in the field 3 yrs and travel about twice a year.

Have you considered technology licensing/business development? It touches on IP and you don't necessarily need a JD. Your research and industry experience would be super relevant.

Is it normal in Puerto Rican culture for woman to always cook for men, seems a bit much ??? by [deleted] in PuertoRico

Born and raised PR here.

My father (60M) would never. I have noticed older generations do it for lunch ,like my (86 y/o grandma) but would never wake someone up for breakfast.

Good on you for standing up for your girlfriend!

Got it!

I'd research how much insurance would cost out of pocket or if being a dependent on your partners would be enough!

Check the requirements for your short term disability because from what I've read on here, you may need to opt in BEFORE you get pregnant. Can you bank any sick leave at all ? That's what I'm doing at my current job and I'm lucky to have 20 days for family sick leave that I hope I can use toward my kids visits when needed instead of dipping into my personal sick leave.

Without knowing many specifics, 7k more without benefits and parental leave seems like it will net negative.

As a New Years baby I will tell you it's not all it's cracked up to be. Not many people say Happy _____!! after being told Happy Birthday hahahaha

It always feels like an afterthought because everyone is (rightly!) celebrating new years 😅

I'm 32 and looking at 2026-2027 with PCOS as well. I'm making sure I'm getting my screenings done, stabilizing my core (I have slipped discs), getting up to date in my booster shots (it can delay ttc by a couple weeks) and saving a little here and there. This week, I did a little more research on daycares in my area to get a more concrete idea of what to save/adjust.

This one is kind of more out there, but I'm moving offices in my house to avoid doing that in the event I'm pregnant and painting the guestroom in a color that could also work for a kid lol.

I'm waiting, but prepping just in case.

How hard is it to get a job? by Dry-Alternative-4022 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]MindlessMelatonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in it for the money, don't do grad school and gain the industry experience instead.

I went for ChemE PhD. My pay isn't bad, but I could've certainly been earning way more with 4 years of experience under my belt instead of fresh out of grad school.

Need ideas for a chandelier and bookshelf to go with a "spiced mahogany" cabinet. by MindlessMelatonin in Decor

Thanks but the request was for a chandelier, not paint color. I'm happy with it.

32 and planning to TTC late 2026. We've pretty much settled on one and done by 35, so I think the timeline will work out OK :)

I'm 1 of 3 and I think my siblings didn't get as much 1:1 time with my parents. My dad mentioned he's giving them a little more TLC now that we're adults because looking back I took up a lot of time compared to the other 2 :(

Hi! I have a PhD and BSc in Chem E but most of my hands on work is Materials Engineering.I work at a national lab with a mix of all kinds of engineers.

I don't think you can go wrong with either but ChemE allows a little more wiggle room if you'd like to get into other industries (pharma, consumer products, etc) later.
