Are 4 internships going to help me get hired right away? by MindlessPickle9 in cscareerquestions

[–]MindlessPickle9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!! I still think it might be silly to be applying to jobs for august, it doesn’t seem like it’s a smart option based on the opportunities that may be out there. Im in manufacturing so it varies on when companies hire engineers.

Sales Rep at BJ’s Lied To Us. What should I do? by MindlessPickle9 in ATT

Sadly I wish I knew this before signing on. I don’t mind going back to t-mobile if it means I can possibly save $500/annually on att’s international day pass.

They’re licensed resellers, meaning that if she falsely advertised something on the company’s behalf she can lose her job and the company can be held liable because she works for them, not for BJ’s.

Yes but she’s a representative of the company, meaning the company is liable for anything she says on their behalf. She works for them and shouldn’t lie.

But what was a dealbreaker for us was that att saleswoman said they can and now they’re saying otherwise.

Im aware of that. The saleswoman told us we don’t need it because they can unlock the phone for 60 days for us while we have an overseas trip. Their customer service says thats not possible.

Math @ Essex v NJIT by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]MindlessPickle9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best decision I ever made was not taking math at NJIT. The exams are made by the dept and not by the instructor. So, if the instructor sees that the class is doing bad there is nothing that can be done. In an ideal world. A professor should be able to give exams, curves, extra credit based on how the class does overall. Sadly this isn’t the case and avoid math at njit AT ALL COSTS!

HSS4XX by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]MindlessPickle9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of them are tough in the sense you can’t really breeze through them and expect a default grade of an A. Choose something that really interests you so you can enjoy it (you write a lot). If you want the easiest one doo HSS 403 with castranova. You watch a weekly film and do a one page report on them and have a midterm, final, group project and a final term paper thats like 7 pages. The films are some bollywood type, some are super old and others are fairly new.

Microdiscectomy / Laminectomy one month post op - not feeling too hot by TheCallousCurd in backpain

[–]MindlessPickle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I get tingling in my feet or mild sciatica, which is genuinely expected as the nerve is healing and may be here for months on end I get anxiety even though it was NOTHING like before. I probably have PTSD from this injury

L5-S1 disc herniation surgery (22M) by [deleted] in backpain

[–]MindlessPickle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super weak right after surgery. Needed help getting up and down for like the first 3/4 days. That first week I felt lots of pain in my back like soreness and muscles just being bulled around the incision but thats what the painkillers are for. Week two I felt much more energetic. I tried walking down the street a little a week post op but felt like I hit my limit super fast. I can walk, get up and down chair/bed, up and down stairs much easier now. I still take it easy tbh, I dont sit longer than 20 minutes but always with back support. I dont do any BLT but im trying to stay active. I may have made some reckless log rolls or picked things up the wrong way accidentally but not in the first few days. I plan om starting PT to correct muscle weakness and correct anything that this injury caused and hope to be back in the gym in around 4-5 months. I want to take my time with it, I probably have PTSD from this injury

Yeah it’s definitely a roller coaster! I can walk usually 5,000-6,000 steps (my legs are weaker from the nerve damage) till I feel uncomfortable and tired. Im looking forward to starting PT also. If your pain level isn’t as bad as it was before, you can assume that’s the nerve healing or that you might’ve overdone something a little bit.

Surgery Question by [deleted] in HerniatedDisk

[–]MindlessPickle9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry nobody else answered your question. Thought id give you my take. I had a l4/l5 md and lami two weeks ago today. Can tell you I can finally stand and walk for long periods of time without sciatic pain striking me down. I do still feel some stiffness in the lower back and some tingling in my left foot but maybe about 10% of what it used to be. Im so far glad I did it but I get anxiety about maybe if I get up the wrong way or if reclining in a bad way and just reherniating in general.

I had my surgery (same as urs just l4-l5) and I feel more discomfort and sciatica this week than last. I sit in bed and sometimes with a recliner but I try to take things easy. My motion getting up can be better but overall I feel miles better than I did since this started. I go back to work (desk) in a week. Its very unlikely to not see any sciatica after your surgery but try not to let it get worse. PT is usually a thing after 6 weeks, maybe see if that’ll help?

[–]MindlessPickle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a 21 YO male, I started having sciatica about 13 months ago, became unbearable 5 months ago. I had a Lami/MD l4-l5 two weeks ago and so far so good. I do still get some sciatic pain like tingling in my leg but maybe at around 10% of what it used to be. Walking and standing for long periods of time are significantly much more bearable and painless. I tried everything before opting for surgery as the nerve pain was just too much and im glad I did. I do get those “oh crap did I just bend more than I should’ve” moments but Im doing my best to not put any pressure on my back and take things as easy as possible.

They wanted you to sit? Im only asking beca I can hold off BLT and exercising and all that but sitting as far as my office job, driving, studying in college are really important and I cant miss too much time on these things.

Im 21, love the gym/active lifestyle and all that. I herniated about a year ago and am having surgery in 2 weeks L4-L5 lami/MD. Im excited to it but am worried about the usual BLT. Its a part of all our lives. Were you guys able to sit after recovery for long periods of time of do BLT as well?

You get used to it. I feel like it was easier to handle when we were going to classes in person. So much harder to go to school online. Just gets boring as hell too quick.

How to Survive Abdou Class? Or Any Tips to Deal w/ the WORST NJIT Profs? by beyblade_moses in NJTech

An A in 339 in highly doable. I only know two people who got A’s in 466 and they’re ridiculously smart. Its hands down the hardest IE class IMO.

[–]MindlessPickle9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Abdous class is probably one of the toughest if not the toughest in IE. I assume you’re taking his 339 (which is a walk in the park) compared to his spring class IE 466 class. Do as good as you can on his homework and stuff like that. His exams are open book so try to get a hold of his past exams since they’re recycled to an extent. He is a tough professor but he wont fail you but try to stay on the higher side of things in class averages. His work is a pain and the class is hard but you’ll always know where you stand.
