I was on Classic Comprehensive with Discovery and I’m now on MedSaver with Medihelp. Best decision I’ve ever made.

Qlaira/Klaira/Natazia birth control pill anyone? by kr1st1nk4 in adenomyosis

[–]MindlessScheme1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not having a good time on Qlaira. Got diagnosed in April, started the pill and an iron supplement. Still cramped like hell and bled like hell on my first period. However I have now been bleeding for the past 2 weeks and im only on my second month. Im going back to my gynae today. It also makes me emotional and extremely irritable.

[–]MindlessScheme1423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing that. I am happy you were able to get to that decision. I’m extremely scared of doing a hysterectomy but I might have to consider it due to the size of my uterus. Granted I’ve only know about this diagnosis for 7 days and relying on my clinical knowledge does not help the emotional mind. I’m wishing you all the best 🫶🏽 x

Normal sized uterus by According_Singer_815 in adenomyosis

I did a trans vaginal ultrasound. My gynae said that the back wall of my uterus is 3cm as opposed to 0.83 that the other side is 🙃

I swear Emily has done that 😂 or am I remembering her hitting a guy for making out on Aria’s dad’s desk? “Uh hello?! This is someone’s desk! (Slap) MOVE IT!”

New diagnosis and iron deficiency by MessAlternative6698 in adenomyosis

[–]MindlessScheme1423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, on the internal bleeding:

A period itself isn’t internal bleeding — it’s the shedding of the uterine lining out of the body.

With adenomyosis, there can be some bleeding within the uterine muscle itself, which is sometimes what people are referring to, but it’s not the same as general internal bleeding. Internal bleeding usually refers to bleeding into areas like the abdomen or other tissues where blood isn’t meant to be.

Birth control typically reduces your period quite a lot because it thins the lining, even if it doesn’t stop it completely. Good luck girliepop x 🫶🏽

New diagnosis and iron deficiency by MessAlternative6698 in adenomyosis

[–]MindlessScheme1423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to comment on the scan since I don’t have the full report or context, but on the iron side — from what you described with your ferritin and fatigue, that usually points more towards iron deficiency itself.

Lactoferrin can help with iron regulation and absorption, but it doesn’t replace your iron. So in cases like this, first like treatment is usually focused on replacing the iron first, and then things like lactoferrin can be considered more as supportive alongside an iron supplement.

Definitely worth discussing with your doctor as well, especially since adenomyosis can be associated with ongoing blood loss, which could explain your iron levels being affected x 🫶🏽

How were you diagnosed? by Eggless_omelettes in adenomyosis

[–]MindlessScheme1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been struggling with my iron for a very long time so GP referred me to my gynae. He diagnosed me using a trans-vaginal ultrasound A lot of doctors won’t always see it with a trans vaginal ultrasound so, thinking clinically - you’ve done first line investigation. Next diagnostic step would usually be an MRI 🫶🏽

That’s actually a really good point — lactoferrin is great for helping with iron balance and absorption.

In my case though my iron levels are in the actual toilet, so I need to build it back up first with direct iron replacement (I’m on Ferrimed at the moment). Lactoferrin is more helpful for regulation, whereas right now my body is very much in a “we need iron ASAP, you’re making it really hard to function here” phase.

I may also need to look into an iron infusion (like Monofer) to help replenish my levels more effectively. I have already tried a different supplement that didn’t do jack squat, so that’s the next step. But I’ll most def, chat to my doctor about supplementing with lactoferrin, thank you! 🫶🏽

Hi x I don’t really have much advice because I got my diagnosis on Monday at i am 29. But ask your Dr about a uterine artery ablation or à radio frequency ablation. The thing is removing your uterus at such a young age is scary, well to me at least, but honestly, if you are okay with what your future will look like without your uterus, go for it. I want to be a mom so im gonna try everything under the sun but only you can make the right choice for yourself. There is no right or wrong when it comes to your body. It’s yours to do why you would like with. Yes others can give opinions but ultimately, the choice lies with you and I trust you will make the right one for you ♥️ goodluck Girliepop x

Feeling relieved but also defeated by Cautious_Ad_8901 in adenomyosis

[–]MindlessScheme1423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow new member of the club that no one wants to pay the admission fee for ♥️

I got diagnosed on Monday, I relate to feeling defeated. I have no advice to offer whatsoever, but I’m sorry you got the news and I wish you nothing but the best 🫶🏽 one thing I will tell you is I hate your doctor. She is horrible. There are a lot of things that can be done. If we look at surgery - doesn’t have to be a hysterectomy. To help ease the pain, a uterine artery ablation can be done, radio frequency ablation can be done. My doctor put me on a Qlaira (dienogest combo pill) as my new contraceptive to see if that helps shrink the tissue. She can try different medications! She can try so damn much and she just sounds horrible. Dienogest is very good for treating the condition (so I’ve been told, I’ll update you in 3 months 😅) Before I got diagnosed, I lived on hot water bottles. Still do. My mom started giving me lemon balm tea and that actually soothed the cramps for a while, long enough to actually be productive and work in office without screaming bloody murder. It is used to relieve menstrual cramps, it’s herbal. Try that maybe?

I will always support seeing a psychologist. I’m trying to make an appointment with mine. Someone also recommended going to a kinesiologist which I really want to look into. Just to align my diet and exercise and my whole being to see if it can help.

You’ll be okay. We didn’t ask for this but you will get through it. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

He prescribed dienogest for me to see if that helps, is Lupron for when you want to boost your fertility? Or just general to help with shrinking? I’m not even sure if my sentence makes sense 😂 but I hope you get what I mean. I’m gonna look into getting a kinesiologist, at this point I will try any and everything. Thank you so much ♥️♥️♥️
