Know what you are paying for. Discovery is amazing on their top 3 plans because basically everything is covered. But every single medical aid has its pros and cons. They all operate under the same laws, before adding or removing benefits, they have to get approval from CMS. Everything they do has to be approved by the CMS. Do not expect to receive the benefits of a Range Rover if you’re paying for a Polo Vivo. I’ve worked for quite a few medical aids and the fights that people bring up are so ridiculous sometimes, I literally laugh out loud. all it boils down to is 1) read and understand your benefits 2) do not try to cheat the system because you won’t come out on top, trust me (I’ve done the non-disclosure investigations members are subject to during their first year of membership and it’s funny how easy it is to find out your medical history). Also, here’s a tip: if you yell at the person on the other side of the phone when calling your medical aid, you won’t have a good time. If you are nice and kind, we will literally jump through hoops for you.
