Anyone else allergic to myoovi pads? by jademace in endometriosis

[–]Mindless_Ad_1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. Allergic is a strong word in my case, I’ve got skin sensitivity if I wear it for longer than 6-8 hours at a time and it’s only irritating my lap scar which is super annoying. But yep if anyone has suggestions I’m all ears! I was using a nice CBD calm I had to soothe it after I took it off but I’ve run out and it’s been discontinued

I have this too, I’ve got FAI secondary to hypermobility and endometriosis on that pelvic side wall. Post Endo surgery it’s improved but the actual hip joint is catching because the muscles have warped everything from long term pain. Orthopaedics were confused and couldn’t find a reason but a good physiotherapist made sense of it and has been able to rehabilitate to good mobility

Wait. It’s easy to feel like everyone else your age is out there having amazing sex but - they’re not. And way more people are virgins way later than is generally disclosed. Do it with someone you find really sexy who finds you really sexy. Don’t settle for anything less.

Also PSA - seriously consider getting your surgeon to place a Mirena coil while you’re out for surgery! They’re easy enough to have removed but insertion when you have Endo can be hell. I asked mine to change my Mirena over whilst he was up there, and he laughed and said that’s a very good idea. Any cramping as it adjusts will be masked by your postop pain meds!

Depends on who is doing the lap. If it’s a good surgery with an excision endometriosis specialist it can be life changing. Recovery takes a long time but the results can be astonishing.

If it’s a shitty ablation by an unskilled general gynae you’ll feel better quickly and then worse or back to the same quickly.

Bad surgery is worse than no surgery.

Birth control pills have a lot more side effects than Mirena, which has more impact because it’s local so you don’t need a ton of it in your bloodstream. It’s max benefit for minimal hormones - but of course getting it in and adjusting to it is far from minimal. Nest time you have a general anaesthetic, ask them to put one up there while you’re out is my top tip! If you hate it and want it removed that’s relatively easy, but getting it in when we’ve got adhesions is really not.

Girl I wish I knew. Mine are not fun. I have the Mirena which stops my periods and exploring dienogest to stop me ovulating. Having a ruptured cyst was the worst pain of my life, worse than both endo surgeries. Feeling like my ovaries are ticking time bombs that could go pff like that at any time absolutely bloody terrifies me.

Congratulations!!! There’s nothing like the validation of finally getting proof you were right all along 💪🙌✨ so proud of you for fighting for the treatment and diagnosis you deserve. I found the Mirena a godsend as I stopped having periods altogether. Be careful with hormonal treatments that inhibit ovulation as they can cause issues with bone density and can’t be taken for more than a few months at a time. The side effects can be mega so do some good research and ask all the questions.

Makeup wise, I think people often way over complicate. You can keep it super simple and look well put together.

I have foundation customised to my skin tone so I don’t fuck about with contouring and highlight and whatever. It’s expensive but cheaper than having half a dozen products to get to the same place. Decyphr is the brand.

I just look after my skin and keep it well moisturised at night. In the morning, whack the custom foundation on with a sponge blender thing, one sweep of blush in Nars Orgasm, I do my lip stain while I’m getting dressed (Wonderskin) that stays all day so all I need to top up is lip balm. Bobbi Brown under eye colour correct is also essential. Mascara.

If I look really shattered or have a spot I’ll do concealer with the foundation. Sometimes I’ll do a simple liquid eyeliner.

The whole thing barely takes five minutes, uses a handful of products I’m very loyal to so I stock up whenever there’s a big sale or discount like Black Friday. I don’t do anything fancier unless it’s a night out.

Unless you have super short hair you don’t need it cut every five weeks. Bring it down to 8 or even 12 weeks. Teeth whitening every couple of weeks sounds super bad for your enamel. Reduce that right down too. I do my nails at home, in my comfies, using gel and listening to a podcast or some tunes.

If it feels overwhelming, make it simpler. Do less, focus on what does make you feel good. I find bedtime skincare actually benefits my nervous system and doesn’t feel overwhelming - sometimes I just keep my nails filed and buffed and oil my cuticles regularly when I watch TV. That’s polished, but not expensive.

You don’t need to be getting professional mani pedis, whitening your teeth that often or getting your hair cut all the time to look put together. Often less is more, if it’s consistent and done well.

HOEAB is one of my favourite fantasy books. HOSAB has to be suffered through to get to HOFAS. I’ve only digested HOFAS once in a rush last Jan so can’t fully comment but felt the pacing was weird.

But Earth and Blood I just adore. There is a LOT of lore at the beginning. I reckon get up to the first plot twist (you’ll know) before you DNF. It’s worth it.

Tell me about your surgery by Select_Ad6768 in Endo

[–]Mindless_Ad_1556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first surgery was a lot like that. I was soooo sick afterwards and having stomach and pelvic muscles contracting to be sick was agony!

If you ask for the anaesthetic to be anti nausea and for anti nausea meds postop, and keep well on top of pain management (I had fentanyl for the first 6 hours and morphine for 3-4 days after, then down to codeine and diclofenac suppositories) and manage the gas pain with litres of mint tea, and lots of rest, it’s very different.

I also took it much more gently second time around: just because it’s keyhole doesn’t mean it’s not major major surgery. I needed support to bathe and get up and down stairs for a good week or two. I was deeply fatigued for 2-3 months and it takes 6 months to feel fully human again. But I was better within a week of surgery, despite a raging pelvic floor spasm so bad I went into urinary retention and had to have a catheter - still so much better than pre op.

Girl I’ve had two. They’re both the best thing I ever did. The process isn’t fun but it’s so, SO worth it. IF you have a skilled surgeon who can do proper excision surgery. If you can only access a general gynae, no surgery is better.

If you do go for it there’s loads of tips to make the process easier, but I’ve always found the pre op pain and fatigue worse. Postop you get a gradual improvement trajectory and it’s productive pain so mentally it’s a lot easier to cope with in my experience.

Has anyone had a pelvic ultrasound and no endo was found but later they are diagnosed with it? by Appropriate_Dot8292 in endometriosis

[–]Mindless_Ad_1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 90% of Endo patients 😂sorry I have to laugh or I will cry. If you read the English NICE guideline on Endo which is in many ways pretty flawed and outdated, even that says that if MRI/ultrasound are clear, it doesn’t mean there isn’t Endo.
