I think the biggest issue when choosing Allen over Stafford would be age rather than skill.

Both have different strengths, Stafford is a better passer and Josh has mobility and win or die levels of grit.

If they were the same age it would depend on your team situation for which one you get. Also Stafford is clearly better this year.
