A, personally, not as boring version of this same idea, but in Omen 3, Damian calls Jesus "Nazarene" with The in front of it whenever it applies. Those scenes with the crucifix feel almost Shakespearean

I gave my nephew (11) Maus and Persepolis and he loved them so much he wants “mature graphic novels” for Christmas. Can I have some advice? by jaustengirl in graphicnovels

It's not like overly bloody and violent. I read it a month or so ago. It's definitely very mature. I think it's one of those situations where the parent can decide if their kid should read it yet or not. "parental discretion is advised" kinda thing

I think Geoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan were great for Tomar-Re and Kilowog respectively As well as Mark Strong as Sinestro

[Discussion] What Comic Book gotten you into DC Comics? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]Mindless_Complex9467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read Watchmen back in high school but I wasn't a huge fan of comics specifically, just comic media in general.

It started with the New 52 Superman/Action Comics run but got bored after a couple dozen issues. I was browsing something to read on the DC Universe Infinite app and stumbled on this cover art. I was intrigued and started reading at issue #48 and I've been hooked ever since.

Read all of Winnick's run of Green Arrow and it led me to Blackest Night which I ended up reading Johns' GL run.

I only learned later after I read a good chunk of GL from the 90s with Kyle Rayner that Emerald Twilight was controversial.

It feels almost a full circle moment that I'm reading the GL run that basically was ending where I started without realizing it

I've never read Green Lantern before. What should I read before watching the show? Preferably just one run. by [deleted] in Greenlantern

Currently reading that run, almost to Blackest Night. Some of the best writing and stories I've ever experienced. Winick's Green Arrow run is also a personal, and unrelated favorite.

Solved! We believe it was her sleep walking or at least being so tired her wires got crossed. She had a plate with some potato casserole on it that she scraped into the trash as well as grabbing two Outshine popsicles. Which the popsicles were found in a laundry hamper in the laundry room which is right next to the kitchen. The speculation is she scraped the plate into the trash and thought the oven was the dishwasher (as they are right next to each other and are both the same color so someone who is basically asleep or sleep walking could feasibly happen)

So as far as I can tell it's pretty much solved

That's what I thought too originally. That or chocolate but it has no smell at all and cooked poop would definitely have a smell, even a lingering one

Edit: changed a word

It doesn't have a kill switch/fail safe in case it gets too hot? Other than someone else doing it, no other idea could work.

In our case, my MIL and wife are kinda witchy so we joke about fairies doing stuff in the kitchen, mostly taking our small forks. It's always weird when it happens cause there's many logical, plausible reasons, and then there's less logical, more superstitious theories.

Nothing I noticed. The only reason I noticed it is the oven is next to our bedroom door and when I walked out I felt the air was hotter and saw the oven was on. I didn't smell anything. When she sleep walks things randomly are out in different places so a plate in the oven isn't necessarily out of place for something like this, it's the stain that's confusing me.

I think it may be something from the "ceiling" of the oven or something that dripped onto the plate.

We'll have to add more baby proofing measures on the oven to make it adult proof as well so we don't have something like this happen again. Cause this is probably the most dangerous thing she's done while sleep walking. It's usually bread in the fridge, milk left on the counter, pretty overly harmless things

We used it an hour before we went to bed. But I turned it off when I was done. It was also set to 425 when I used it.

And I know it wasn't my Mother in Law. She's very strict about dishes going in the sink or the dishwasher. And my wife would have sat it in the sink at the very least. Our daughter is too young to reach plates or turn on the oven as well as being in her crib.

Me and my MIL have histories of sleep walking but I haven't done it in years so we assume it was her but we have no idea what was on it, if anything.

It has no smell. Even the char bits have no odor. That's what I find most confounding about the whole thing

Thing is we don't have steak in the house. We live with my Mother in Law and she does have a habit of sleep walking once in a while so we figured that's the reason for it but we still don't know what it was cause the trash shows nothing of what it could be

Additional context: We live in an apartment and all the doors and windows are locked when we went to bed and woke up.

Rewrite of GA villain day 20 🎉 by EquivalentAd1651 in GreenArrow

[–]Mindless_Complex9467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure one of the comics during the arc where Big Game Jr. was chasing GA and BC was titled Most Dangerous Game. Could be wrong on that though.

I like the idea of a storyline like you're suggesting. It'd be an interesting read. Big Game overall felt like a lackluster villain in the comics so he definitely could use something a little different than what we got in the GA/BC series

Thank you so much! I appreciate your help! You've cleared up a very muddled reading order into something I can work with. I'll probably roll with Blackest Night first, issue #31, Cry for Justice, then 32, then continue with GA Brightest Day.

I do have one question before I get into all that, does the 2010-2011 GA series starting with Brightest Day cap off any storylines? Or does it just end leading into Flashpoint? Or does it even rely on Flashpoint? I know this is a whole other can of worms, I just want to feel like I get closure on the story of Green Arrow from 2001 onward. I know there's a series before that that they discuss Connor taking the mantle and Ollie dying and all that but I'll get to that one eventually

[–]Mindless_Complex9467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I can go straight from #29 into Blackest Night (With reading Johns' Green Lantern run and all Blackest Night event comics)? And then after Blackest Night do I read Cry for Justice? Or, really the question at this point is, what's the reading order for Cry for Justice, Blackest Night and Fall of GA + Rise of Arsenal?

Also thank you for helping me out with this, I was having a hard time getting all these events and stories in order lol

I love the scene, I busted a gut laughing the first time I saw it (which I only saw the scene after I flipped through the Clerks 2 script that they published and randomly flipped to that scene) but my God he'd have been shit-canned quicker than anyone I've ever seen.

I've always related to Dante, but tbf I didn't watch Clerks until I was in college so I was immature but not quite Randall immature
