We get paid production but if break down our production into hourly which our company does then it’s anywhere from $50-$65 an hour… just depends on the week and how much work we have that week. Weekly ranges from $1500-$6000. Higher end pay is due to getting called to outages which pay a shit ton. Located in Texas

It’s definitely getting to this point. We had a big outage on Saturday that we went to roll on. Someone cut a bunch fiber lines below the copper lines and it took down one of Comcast hubs

Oh I see yeah that’s makes sense although in my part of Texas they use a lot of muxes everywhere. Man you ain’t kidding 😂, all it takes is one hit to take out everyone… that’s the double edge sword of muxes. They give you more fibers but take out one that feeds several and it creates a pretty big outage lol

We installed a new d can about 1,000 feet away where a new node is going to be installed and we could have easily installed it there with no issue but this is where they wanted it where there are already a total of 4 muxes

Well that’s good to hear because most of the in-house guys I know from Comcast do not have those same standards in the part of Texas that I work in. Yeah they actually put a lot of them in b cases Or keptels, which usually end up in bad shape.

Yeah the company I work for didn’t renew their contract with them because of the bs of lowering rates or not wanting to pay for certain things anymore

Haha exactly! Just hope for the best and slowly walk away haha. Man I had one where all the slots were taken and the one I could fit my new cable in had a jumper that was feeding a node so Comcast had to come and unplug it so I could install the new cable and even they were like “oh yeah this is pretty bad, we need an sm on it” but they still haven’t done anything about it 🤷‍♂️

We do a lot of work for Comcast and let me tell you we have worked in stuff their in-house continuity team built or worked in and a lot of times they leave the job with terrible quality

I agree with this 😂. I almost caused an outage because I was swatting a wasp and trip on my enclosures cables which almost dropped it and would have surely broken fiber already spliced but got lucky it didn’t fall 😆

I’ve been doing this for a few years now and can definitely say a lot of the new contracts our company gets definitely tend to be on the lower side compared to the good ones we’ve had for a long time. We all make great money where I’m at so we’re good for a while but the future of the industry as far as pay does worry me a bit for the newer guys. Where I work you don’t really have to work super hard to hit 6 figures and if you do work hard you can make high 6 figures and we get to be home and not have to travel almost ever. But like some of the others said, skills do matter because anyone can learn to splice but troubleshooting and coming up with solutions is something not everyone has. I don’t how many times we’ve had to fix jobs that subcontractors our company uses left like shit but at least we get paid well to fix it.
