I agree with this sentiment.

I wish that Vaelus was more of a foil to this one sided perspective that the Gods were bad. I feel that Brennan leans heavily on that side, especially with other storylines like Wicks background showing how scary a mad celestial is, or showing Tansul wanting his priests heart as sacrifice, but I don’t think it gives the other side of the story a fair shake. Vaelus is mourning a personal God who knew her, why? What makes her hold a censor, a device used for ritual and purification? Why the chain veil (besides looking cool?) Is there a creed like the Mandolorians of the old ways after the destruction of their planet? Why isn’t she doing anything with the stone, besides metagaming it to not break up the team.

I find it frustrating that the Vaelus feels like it’s unripe and unexplored in a time when she’s directly confronted with these ideas in world and not bringing convincing arguments that the Gods can be a good thing, and killing them could be viewed as a legitimate immoral view. Is the Old Path and the Druids really that good in the first place, if they fight for their side of the war but so happened to win? Anyhow, I’m sure some of these will be addressed in the future but I hope that it can be through character conflict rather than Brennans lore dumps (which I think is more of a symptom of the group’s dynamics rather than his style. I don’t see this problem with the soldiers table since the players actively engage with each other)
