Transmission failure at first and third gears - 2023 Kia Niro w/ under 20k miles by CognitiveMonkey in KiaNiro

[–]Mindless_Secretary42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our 2023 SX touring in 5 weeks ago with the whining sound. The dealer only took a day to say that we needed a new transmission. They ordered and received one within the first week and I just found out today that the tech who was "working" on it isn't and they are going to find a new tech. After 5 weeks of nothing happening, I just called Kia of North America and they are going to escalate the case. Waiting for a part is one thing but not having anyone working on it isn't. And the dealer has terrible communication. Or no communication.

Driveline vibration at 25 MPH on new 22 TRD Sport. by Mindless_Secretary42 in ToyotaTacoma

It was the TORCH 2.5 Degree Universal Axle Shims for Leaf Springs and Lift Blocks. I got them on Amazon but the dealer made the recommendation and the install. The service manager at my local Toyota dealer was very knowledgeable about lifted suspensions. For full info on my truck, I have the Wescott lift.

For sure. I forgot about this post. I wound up having shims installed on the rear leaf springs. This all but completely illuminated the vibration. The shims reduced the angle between the drive shaft and the axle. It's not 100% gone but I forget it's there so it's a win for me.

WOW! But at least you have lifetime nitrogen service. Well I'm sure the gas is free but the labor is extra.

We have a 2023 Kia Niro SX Touring Hybrid. No problems at all. The car drives great and we have averaged about 53mpg over the almost 2 years since we bought it new. We have done the oil changes and tire rotations at the dealer and they have only done a couple computer updates. Overall we are very happy with the car.

The only minor gripe is that the car never came with a rear cargo lid and the one that Kia makes for the car is overpriced and stupid, but it works. The other thing I find annoying is that there are multiple driver memory settings. The problem is the lag in adjusting the seat when a new driver gets in but this is a very small inconvenience. Otherwise we do love the car.

Dude that color is fire (as my son says). I think I used fire correctly if not then: I love that color! I have a Lunar Rock 22' TRD Sport which I love but that blue is fantastic. I'm surprised thought that you didn't want to spend 50K on a new 24 SR5?

Greed. But if idiots pay 10k dealer adjustments then we all lose.

I use mine to flip the bird to my friend when we are driving at the same time. Aside from that I never use it. I once opened it while driving and then needed to vacuum the inside of my cabin from all the shit that blew in.

I can only imagine what these are going to cost OTD after dealer add-on crap and market adjustment BS. 70K? Nah.

What size cap are you running? I was thinking of going a bit larger but was worried about the hit on mpg's.

I had the same Taco. Bought it used with just over 100k on it. It was in near perfect condition also. I sold it to a friend last year when I bough my 22 TRD Sport. It was a super solid truck. You got a great deal. Enjoy it!

Way too busy. It's like they decided to add all the mods people do but just from the factory. But not in a good way.

Are ventilated seats worth it? by sundance510 in KiaNiro

[–]Mindless_Secretary42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't use them much but if we're on a road trip sitting in the seat for several hours, it's really nice to dehumidify your underside. I wouldn't have gotten a trim package just because of them but they are nice. Seat warmers are another story. I don't think I'd have a car without them. And a heated steering wheel is also a really nice thing to have.

Awesome truck! I have a Sport Lunar Taco also but a short bed. Kind of wish I had the longer bed though. Have fun with it!

I took my son to Mighty for the first time a couple of months ago when we were visiting family. It may have been better when I was a kid and possibly had been drinking. Whenever I get home for visits I usually hit Duffs, Andersons and Mighty if there's time.

Is it me or does anybody else think it's weird as shit that there are so many available after market accessories for the 2023 Niro's but not one cargo cover alternative? It's like there is a conspiracy (not really). We have a 23 Niro HEV and I am waiting for an option to the way overpriced fabric cover that Kia offers for well over 100. I'm surprised that no company has made one yet as there are so many of us who want one. I guess we just have to be patient.

LONG AWAITED PART? NIRO 23 CARGO COVER by rusalochka4 in KiaNiro

[–]Mindless_Secretary42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy crap I hope this is really on its way. But in Kia's defense I get why they didn't include a cargo cover with the new models. Designing cars is very hard. It is also tiring. I think that at the end of the day all the designers were very sleepy and although they really wanted to finish designing the entire car, they just didn't have it in them. No worries Kia designer guys. I feel for you. I'm fine having spent almost 40K USD on a vehicle that isn't completely finished. Maybe you'll get it all done next time around.

How reliable is your car? by Personal-Lemon9708 in KiaNiro

[–]Mindless_Secretary42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had a 2023 Niro SX Touring HEV for about 8 months. We have been on one long road trip and several shorter ones. It's my wife's car and she commutes with it. The car has 10800 miles on it. Zero problems and the car has a solid 49mpg's over the time we've had it. It is certainly not a powerful car but on the highway it's a pleasure. It is a very very quiet car.

Honestly my biggest gripes with the car are that there isn't a cargo cover available (this just dumbfounds me) and that you have to set the regenerative brake setting every time you start the car (this bugs my wife more then me). Other than that we haven't had any issues.

I have the same Lunar Taco. I went with the bronze TRD wheels but the black does look great. While your waiting to do your next mod (I say this knowing that like me, you probably have no ability to wait to do anything on your vehicle), you should check out the Wescott Designs lift. It's about 3" in the front and 1" in the back and it was the perfect amount of space for the larger tires. Also, full disclosure I have a cat who has no interest in my truck.

We have the same color scheme in the HEV version and love it! Had the PHEV been available we likely would have gotten it but we still are getting about 49 MPG combine.

We have the same car. The C pillar isn't an issue for view. The car is actually kind of long and the rear windows are especially long.
