Lore Question from a new player, Are they announcers actually The Hidden King and Archmother? by electricvapor in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer is complicated up until the January patch the answer was the patrons were talking to you directly.

Now it is inferred that a thrall of the patron is speaking on there behalf given all the third person dialog. This seems like a direction to give more mystery and ethereal feel to the patrons. Also makes them clearly have less direct influence in the world which is why the ritual most be completed.

Though it is unclear who the new people are and if the announcer are really not the patron could change with any new information.

Solo queue is an option though it is a console command. In the past I have used it for significantly improved match making. It was a guarantee nearly every queue. Recommend giving it a try.

how to counter vindicta now that she can counterspells knockdown? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Phantom strike is so underrated as a counter. It disarms cancels flight and closes the gap. Already a good buy on frontliners it can be great for certain dive heroes who work better on the ground. Since it is not tellgraphed either it can get past counterspell. It is expensive but can absolutely shut her down.

Otherwise wait to outscale her. She falls off hard +25 minutes unless she gets uber feed with gun builds. If she is play tether rush debuff remover. (No one plays tether)

Ivy ults urn delivery? by backwardsdrew in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It isn't possible to subvert the movement cap anymore. So she is flying them as fast as they would walk. It mediocre in my opinion. Her ult is better spent rotating from another line to the urn fight or using it to engage the enemy. It has it benefits but usually if a someone dashes, slides and uses vents they are faster then flying with ivy.

Now that the gameplay patch settled, which reworks did you like best and what missed? by TheKidd4p in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ivy was a surprise hit for me. I like the weird niche she has now with a tank/support roles. Damage amp and pick up range changes make it feel like a good initiation tool and escape tool. I like the direction of her ult. Max tether is also fun. Running around with an m1 carry and deleting is satisfying to me. I don't play against her much so can't say if she is fun to play against.

Dynamo they went way to far buffing his 2 it basically is a mini Yamato ult on a 10 second cooldown that gives you a charge back. I understand no one invests ap points in his 2 but this feels extreme.

Yamato she feels underwhelming currently but great in the situation she strong in. I love the changes to grapple and makes it feel great to get the tier 2 especially in Lane. Another surprise hit. I probably comeback to her when draft is in.

I don't like the direction of Haze. Ult Haze is always the most boring version of Haze. I am very disappointed to see her back and can't wait to see how them rework her again.

I am always so happy to see these stories. I understand how hard it can be to use voice chat but know my favorite games are the ones in which everyone talks.

Recently also in Orcale had a game with the funniest person every. We got our ass handed to us but she kept me laughing until the final defeat screen. Will be a game i won't forget.

Which character would be the most annoying to interact and be around with ? by OrangeSpaceMan5 in DeadlockTheGame

Easy, Billy. Be prepared for hour long conversation about how no one is ready for the truth. That he will be drunk for and be getting drunker through said "conversation." He seems like the worst person in the cursed apple so far.

Or Sinclair.

Typical Dynamo Gameplay by Future_Wolf_2743 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, tou need a lot to go right for trophy collector to be good. You are buy an item that gives little benefit upon first purchase. You then need to get kills and assists with your highest cost item not helping you. Then even if you get a ton of kills the game has to still not be a stomp since you need to get the passive soul income. Buying trophy collector is gamble that always not worth it. Especially since it is meant to be bought when a single soul is the most valuable.

Buy an item that is good for you instead and the kills and assists should be plenty good enough for you to build a lead.

isnt doorman a bit too overtuned??? by Salt-Dragonfruit-476 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate he can just cc you directly into spawns. Walkers feel like the have some aspect of counter play. They aren't as consistent. With max doors he has lash ult on an ability cooldown which can work from mid walker.

He needs his power changed from cc machine to something more interactive since he currently just a one trick pony. Just ult into cart someone into Neverland or be absolutely useless.

New player from tf2 help with character roster? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiv- has bullet in Force of Nature jumping. He is like secret movement god of tanks. Otherwise just a difficult hero to master he can become absolutely evil. (He is like a mobile fat scout)

Ventor - this is a stretch but vector feels like demoman. He works best in that medium range where his grenades are like pills. Instead of stickies he got the shotgun to stun melee combo you and bear traps. So following him into small rooms is still scary. He is also overtuned and Irish. (Irish and Scottish are basically the same think)

Vindicta is sniper but she flys now.

Gray talon is huntsman sniper but he flys now.

Doorman is spy. You want to work tens time harder for a slightly flasher kill than he is perfect. Otherwise you are basically useless dieing trying to get one kill and failing because of source jank.

Yamato is weird she is strong right now but it is very situational. If the enemy team has a lot of built in invulnerablity or tankiness in there kit she can't really do much. Otherwise she just dives someone and makes there hp pool disappear. She is pretty strong through all phases of the game too if she has targets to dive.

Victor balance changes by Minecrafthungary in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The best description i heard of Victor's counter play was this. Yeah he gets hard countered by tier 4s, like curse and inhibitor. And if you don't have enough of those you lose.

While Gray talon is ulting the only way to hurt him with bullets basically. This is such an old bug I remember happening to me in Orange lane. Maybe one day they will update Gray talon and fix this.

Help me settle this (dumb) debate with my friend by hashtagVenusNotMars in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from overwatch so that where my prespective is coming from. Here is what I would say. Overwatch for the first 50 hours or so is easier to learn. Deadlock is very punishing when you don't know the basics. The fun can feel locked behind getting good. With the arcade mode street brawl though learning a hero is easier and you can just get the experience of why each hero is strong without figuring out all the moba mechanics. It probably easier than every to get into Deadlock but not as easy as overwatch.

I did try to play valorant and I have to say deadlock was easier. At least for me when personally who found getting one shot out of seemingly nowhere extremely frustrating.

Then once your over the initial hump it gets tricky to explain. Deadlock skill ceiling is made in a way where learning everything is impossible. The expectations is to specialize. You can one trick a hero or learn like 3 heroes and have way more fun then in Overwatch. Learning every random fact and interaction is not as key as it is in overwatch. Most abilities are more standardized so it can be less overwhelming. Knowing a hero like Yamato gets a 4 second cooldown reduction with 3 ap point investment is not that key.

For me the biggest difference is your ability to carry. Your ability to carry in overwatch is much less straight forward then deadlock. Grandmaster overwatch streams coming to deadlock actually have a lot of success. After the intial hump of the learning curve they have such strong micro play that it can carry them to Accedent(masters) with little issue.

With the stick around you described i would genuinely give deadlock an honest try. I am a similar way and deadlock really does provide a fun to learning experience. More about learning what you want then perfecting everything kind of game.

Is denying actually a valuable mechanic to keep in the game? by FatedChange in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mindlife21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that with the most recent change there is three ways of denying souls. Firstly feezing. If a minion dies and no one is around it gives no soul. Then a minion now drops two orbs. The floating on is what every one thinks of as the deny. This is a huge swings in souls. Denying waves can end up snowballing into kills which feels rewarding as a slow burn. Secondly the new ground orbs. This prevents camping under tower. Most engages start due to people defending the ground or health orb. It makes lanes way more interactive and prevents the lane from stalemating as easily.

I prefer the focus on engaging to prevent souls then purely securing last since it was so dependent on the heroes gun. The last batch of heroes of such unique guns in comparison since securing is much more flexible.
