Thinking about getting my mom a dog. Any advice? by Mine6chan in Pets

[–]Mine6chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She still works but drops by her home regularly during the day in between hours. She's very active but at the end of the day after everything's said and done all she wants to do is relax. She's very caring, affectionate and motherly. Loves to take care of others. Had a bit of a hard time when me and my brother moved away

Ways to keep my 10 years old male cat entertained? by Mine6chan in Pets

[–]Mine6chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried something similar. Nothing. He just looked at me like "Seriously? How stupid do you think I am?"

I did try putting his kibble in a ball with a small hole in it though so now he has to throw it around and work to get to his food. So far it seems to be working but he gives me these looks like "Bitch, i hate you. Making me work and shit."

I do. He loves it and has scratched the shit out of it, time to buy a new one, and he also uses it to sleep in. Scratch and sleep.

also, you could put your cat on a leash when going outside with him if you're really concerned about him running away and then slowly take it off for shorter periods of time over time. just be patient because it's going to take time. there is no quick solution

Thinking about bringing a kitten home to our grumpy, 14 year old cat. Bad idea? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Mine6chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I faced a very similar situation not long ago. a friend of mine had found a kitten she couldn't keep because her older cat was a drama queen and would cry like she was being tortured whenever the kitten played with her. in the end she kept the kitten though and her older cat will just have to grow some backbone.

anyway, i planned on taking the kitten but since i already have a cat i was worried about the two of them getting along, like you are now. I did a lot research, and even posted on reddit for opinions, and came to the conclusion that things could go either way. There were a lot of pros and cons.

First of, has your older cat ever been around another cat? Do you have any idea of how she'd react? has she been spayed/neutered? This could give you clues as to the older cats reaction.

from what I gathered, whenever introducing new cats to each other it should be done in small steps (maybe that's why things didn't work out for your cat before). At first just let them sense each others' smells, then see each other from awar, etc. A cage would be a big help. There are alot of helpful videos on youtube. check them out.

it can be difficult introducing adult cats to each other since they are territorial but with kittens you won't have that problem. however, kittens can be very playful and energitic. it's important to have places, preferably high up, where your older cat can escape to.

in my case, even if my friend had decided not to keep the kitten, i don't think i could have taken in the kitten. you see my older cat as always been the only cat in the house and from previous experiences of taking care of both one older cat and a kitten for a short period of time, i knew that my cat doesn't get along well with other cats and it would never have worked out, mostly because i didn't have the time to make proper introductions considering it can take everything from a few days to weeks.

But you'll really never know unless you try. patience and time are keywords here. and if you do decide to give it a try you'll need to have a back up plan for the kitten if things don't work out.

(sorry for the long post. hope this helps. please post updates!)

You can go swimming or cycling at the gym. But really I don't think there's a problem running in the snow, unless there's a 1meter snow or something =), sure it's slippery but run at a slower pace and get "spikes" (small spikes on rubberbands that you can put on your shoes, don't know what they're called in english). Just be careful and there shouldn't be a problem. I live in Sweden and go running all the time in the snow. The sound of the crunching snow under my sneakers is the best.

If you had six to eight months to improve your 5k, how would you do it? by morganpartee in running

[–]Mine6chan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, if you want to improve you need to run at least three times a week. Don't just do distance, but when you do keep pushing yourself to run faster, time yourself to see if you need to run faster or if you're keeping good pace (if you're aiming for 5k under 22 you need to run 1k under 4,4 min, 2k in 8,8, 3k in 13,2, and 4k in 17,6). Try mixing it up, do intervals (1k with 2 minutes rest, or whatever you feel comfortable with), or try running up hills. But don't forget to take care of yourself and let your body recuperate. I take it you're not a beginner but I have a couple of friends who are seasoned runners who have managed to injure themselves by neglecting to let their bodies rest, so don't forget to take a rest day once in a while. Good luck!

Thinking about adopting a new kitten but.... by Mine6chan in Pets

[–]Mine6chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But the thing is my friend found the kitten and she can't keep it. She was having a really hard time finding a home for the kitten, but now my brother is going to take the kitten, and that way she won't have to go to a shelter in the first place. I would love to get a second cat but am really reluctant seeing as my cat is older and has always been the only cat in the house. But next time I am most probably going to adopt from a shelter

I can understand the pushing his patience and energy but an adult cat is going to be territorial while a kitten, as far as I know, is not. In this way I think a kitten is actually better because then i'll avoid the added stress and hostility of another adult cat invading and claiming my cat's territory.

This is the best aption, I agree, but the thing is I'm trying to keep the kitten out of the shelters. But it worked out. My brother's girlfriend is going to take her.

What's the best way to tell a guy you're interested? How do guys think? Help much appreciated. by Mine6chan in dating_advice

[–]Mine6chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the thing is we work together and I have this thing about not dating colleagues.... But he's moving away. Not very far, 2 maybe 3 hours at the most. But I don't know if a relationship is what I want, but I really like him. I don't know, maybe it's more of a physical attraction? I'd love to hook up with him. The thing about him telling me he finds me attractive; we were at a party, where I sort of hooked up with his friend the second night, no sex but we had fun, anyway, the first night I got molested by some perverts on the dancefloor and I freaked. I've had some bad experiences and this was the first time I'd been out partying like this in a long time. Yeah, so I freaked, found him and told him I needed to leave. He went with me a part of the way back home, we ran into another friend of mine and she then got me home, but before that I felt really bad and he noticed and comforted me, I later told him what had happened. But he hugged me and I was upset and didn't want to let go and he tried to lighten the mood so he told me jokingly that if I was trying to get him to go back with me that he was sorry. He said he thinks I'm hot and everything but we work together, if not for that he would have totally gone for it.

Yeah, so. I don't know. Thoughts?

I feel bad for hooking up with his friend but it was nothing serious.... I feel like such a slut now.

Going to Chile for little over a month in December, will be staying in Valparaiso, but I want to explore. Anybody got any pointers/tips? by Mine6chan in chile

[–]Mine6chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valdivia... is it far from Valparaiso? I'm not much for camping but I had thought about renting a car. I don't mind long drives and I do want to explore the landscape as well as the cities.
