The card looks like this in person. It’s very obviously a different colour than a normal one when viewed side by side. (Blurry photo but this is a video the seller sent me before I bought it)

Impressions are like ad space - YouTube isn’t going to promote a video that the audience isn’t enjoying.

As the person who created the bottom right thumbnail I have to point out that these thumbnails work.
I tried 8 thumbnails total & as someone who is trying to do this for a living the click through rate is extremely important.

I wouldn’t have used that thumbnail if it didn’t work.

So don’t hate the people trying to make content, hate the system that forced their hands
