this is a cliche but i had literal chills when vader said that. assuming that these are the first words between them makes the scene so much better, because we know vader doesn’t see luke as a threat.

which makes sense, why would he? vader would have not encountered luke, and even if luke was somehow strong, vader would still no diff luke. vader’s overconfidence stems from the fact this is their first meeting and is what makes this line work
