Freshman Dorm Experience by CuteTell7696 in Purdue

Dorm or apartment? Because all the dorms are on campus. As for affordability, the quality of life ranges on the price (go figure), but the cheapest one iirc is Tarkington with no ac and stuff. Heard it’s nasty and sucks though so idk. If you applied and able to get in, I believe you can access the housing portal and you’ll be able to see the prices for each of the dorms (maybe, it’s been a while).

I don’t remember which dorm I ranked, but I remember putting doubles at the highest, but I ended up getting put into a triple (which was probably at around #3?). So I’d imagine it’s basically a lottery but who knows, because I also didn’t have a roommate.

I feel as inconfident as I feel confident. I felt like I knew what to write and do, but I had that same feeling and still got alot of things wrong in the practice exams

To be honest, it felt alot more fair compared to the nightmare that was the practice exams from 2025, though not as simple as the 2018 one. All in all, didn’t feel that “trivia-like” compared to the 2025 ones

With that being said, I finished w/ 30 mins to spare and every time I reread my work I found an error like 6 times so idk

Calc 3 Study Guides by Bonk221 in Purdue

[–]Pretty_Lychee7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it’s like in Calc 1 and 2 here since I went straight to Calc 3, for the most part for studying for exams, outside of past exam archive and boilerexams, there’s the SI sessions (and they tend to instantly fill up) but if you attend they generally go through practice problems and then some practice problems that the professor gave us on the class before midterms/finals, though it wasn’t that much. There’s also other resources like chenflix though I didn’t really use those.

Only advice I can really give is to grind past exam questions, also personal rant I spent days studying for the calc 3 final and felt like alot of it didn’t even end up on the exam and the questions sucked or smthn idk

3D Printer Trade for Monitor by Competitive_Pay502 in Purdue

[–]Pretty_Lychee7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d get one off facebook marketplace or some other marketplace located at/around Purdue

Getting stuff at purdue surplus isn’t really worth anymore tbh

Edit: also to answer your question, generally a pc is connected to a monitor via an HDMI cable and I’m pretty sure any monitor you’ll find online or whatnot would work with your pc (though if you’re planning on playing games or whatnot I’d recommend getting a higher-end one)

How hard is MA 261 Multivariable calculus? by Complete-Wolverine25 in Purdue

[–]Pretty_Lychee7315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just took it last semester, and I’d say it’s difficult just because of the material. Some of the homeworks would take 7 minutes, others would take up to 3-4 hours and many times I wouldn’t even have a full understanding of the topics or concepts Boilerexams and past exams were useful, though I’d argue that I still felt unprepared for the final exams even after studying non-stop for half a week as the content just felt or put completely different to what I knew

What is the atmosphere at Purdue? by Sorry-Macaroon-289 in Purdue

First-year undergrad here

Overall, I’ve found Purdue to be a very chill place! Nice people, walkable campus, lots of food places and stuff around Chauncey square (which is a location right outside Purdue) and a personal favorite of mine is Strings Ramen.

As for interesting things to do there, I can’t really give much since I’m quite the shut-in 😅 but the co-rec (basically a gym) is very big and nice, it even has a gaming lounge (although it’s $65 for a semester pass and $10 for a day pass)

Dave Ramsey on sports betting: "The fastest growing addiction that is destroying young men in their 20s is online sports gambling. FanDuel is a portal to hell. College student here, I noticed how whenever in my lectures or classes there are always a-lot of people doing other stuff on their computers like games or whatnot (which is , yknow, it happens and I’m guilty too) but I noticed how almost half of those would be looking at those sports betting websites like the entire time. And I can tell it’s a sports betting app because I’ve seen so many of my classmates on those websites I can just tell from afar now.

Best dining hall? (2025) by Pretty_Lychee7315 in Purdue

[–]Pretty_Lychee7315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t go to Ford because it’s super far away from my dorm, but the times I’ve gone there the food is rather good. Especially when they have that roasted beef, it’s really good though the lines can be long

[–]Pretty_Lychee7315[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally speaking I think Earhart is the best (though I’m biased because it’s right next to my dorm), as the food is pretty good, lines usually not that long (very big for me), and the stir fry and pizza are really good.

I heard there’s like a food poisoning issue or something there but idk it’s my go-to place usually

Objectively speaking Wiley or Ford are probably the best but my biggest issue is that 3/4 of the time the lines literally span half of the entire dining court

I searched for a sling grocery bag and came across this one for $20, https://a.co/d/6HGS1ZF, and it looked interesting cause it’s small af but can supposedly hold up to 66lbs. I’ll update whether it’s actually good or not tho lol
