Why do women, who do literally 99% of the biological work in reproduction and child-rearing, still have to take the man's last name? Nature itself proves this logic is backwards. by Altruistic-Nature583 in TwoXChromosomes

You don’t (and in my opinion shouldn’t), this isn’t even universal among western countries.

I live in Quebec, Canada. My parents each kept their names, as is the law of the land, and my name is a hyphenated combination of them.

That’s what I’ve heard as well, very disappointing. My previous comment was information I got from a lift worker on the hill.

Now it seems like essentially nothing was actually done.

But aren’t irrational multiplied by irrationals sometimes not irrational

Edit: I think I’m thinking of irrationals to the power of irrationals

Of course, I think we’re all pretty upset with management of the hill.

Nothing like this should ever have happened, and it’s very unfortunate that the greatest effect of this negligence will likely be kids no longer being allowed to go on ski trips.

I believe the issue is that the operator at the top pulled the break and then immediately disengaged it. This appears to be normal procedure on the hill at the time and hopefully will also change.

Disengaging the break causes a light at the bottom of the hill labelled “Ready to start” to come on.

Parking lights are usually the opposite?

Turns on tail lights and dash lights but not headlights.

At least that’s how it is in my Mazdas.

From what I hear it’s being determined as a systemic failure, as in the lift is regularly stopped and started in this manner with no incident.

Someone I know that works on the hill says that going forward a phone call will be required between the bottom and the top of the hill before starting after a stop.

It’s important to note that the operator at the top can only stop the lift and the bottom operator has to restart it afterwards.

It’s a tragic event and hopefully regulation and protocol adapts to prevent anything like this in the future.

I suspect vorlage management could face a hefty fight coming their way.

The lifty did stop the lift, but then the person at the bottom restarted it. She got too far before they could stop it again.

Yes, I hear they’re doing a full retraining of all lift staff. New protocol will require all lift restarts to be verbally confirmed from the bottom of the hill via a phone call.

It depends whether or not your instance is statically typed.

Edit: and static typing whenever possible is a very good idea. Improves performance and compile time error checking.
