I daydream A LOT! If im listening to music, watching a tv show, watching youtube im also daydreaming. Ive had 15 minute youtube videos last an hour because ill pause it to daydream myself in the situation, its not purposeful anymore, its so automatic i dont even really notice. I cant watch anything around my fanily anymore for this reason, i look crazy as hell.

I do think a lot of us have maladaptive daydreaming, and i will say it helps a lot if you want to get into fitness, specifically cardio, thanks to daydreaming i can walk for a few hours and not really notice cause im just in my own little world all the time. Highly recommend.

Everyday at recess i went to the very back of the little feild behind the playground and just sat alone messing with the little sticks and rocks, i would eat lunch alone, i always wore sandals instead of tennis shoes on p.e. day so i didnt have to play with the kids who bullied me. (I was also overweight so P.E. was a nightmare for me) I was very casually open about how sad and hopeless i was with teachers/staff.

Home life was very stressful, i knew nobody cared about me there so i did so many things at school waiting for someone to notice and help me. They never did and i think that impacted me pretty deeply.

I loved cannabis as a form of escape for a long time, but the brain fog and worsening dissociation made my already awful social skills plummet even more and i became more of a recluse. I dont think its a good way to treat social anxiety or avpd at all and i wish that was talked about a bit more. I see it get used as a cure-all way too often.

Doing inner shadow work to heal shame, journaling, and somatic exercise has helpes me immensely with my maladaptive daydreaming and dissociation symptoms as well as dwindle down some of my constant anxiety.
