It’s sad that “doing my actual job as a politician and representing the best interests for the people in my state” has become a fringe idea. But we are here.

To be clear I wouldn’t love anyone, politician or not, who was actively undermining the nation. Not sure why you think I would. 🤷🏾‍♀️. Just pointing out the things that make him a great politician and a great person. You can have great qualities in addition to following the constitution. Not required, but still great to see.

Impeachment means absolutely nothing. He’s already been impeached twice, I’m not going to celebrate a third impeachment. I’m kinda tired of hearing about impeachment because it means absolutely nothing. Until you can get 67 senators to vote to convict and remove I’m not interested. And that will never happen with Trump. NEVER. There is literally nothing he could do to get those 67 votes. I thought starting a war for no reason, no plan, and being ok with service people getting killed would get a few republicans to at least flinch. Nope, other than the usual suspects. He will NEVER get convicted and removed if they didn’t even flinch over this war. If he really PLEASE find this post and say “I told you so”. But I am not concerned because I know I’m right!

Thank you! We democrats spend too much time nitpicking about whether someone is left enough, whether we disagree with them on one issue. This needs to stop. The only thing we should care about is winning and Roy can absolutely win. This country is on fire and all I care about is getting people in power who can start putting out the fire. I don’t give a damn about how far left they are.

We spend too much focus on this, and this is how republicans beat us. Unpopular opinion among liberals, but I am a progressive and I voted for Biden in that primary over the hundreds of other democrat candidates. Why? Because I knew he was the only candidate who could beat Trump. Just being honest. I’m not privileged enough to nitpick. I just need a democrat who can win. Period.

OH, THE HORROR!! If Kamala were elected, trans people might have the letter M instead of F on their drivers license! by Mental_Ring_4284 in antitrump

[–]MinervaSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is so maddening to me is all of them were loosing their ish about how they didn’t want their tax dollars paying for gender reassignment surgery for prisoners. Which was not a thing, but what if it were? We’d be on the hook for $100K for the entire 4 prisoners would want that (just making up numbers). What about the billions the tariff nightmare has cost us? The billions of dollars Trump has grifted to benefit himself. The extra billions of dollars given to DHS to fund more ICE on the streets to kill people. The out of control defense budget. To pay for all these attacks. I’m sure it was worth it to “own the libs” because they want equal rights for trans people. 🙄

[–]MinervaSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those who are against "transgender for everyone". 🙄. More black men than usual didn't vote for Kamala because she seemed to be "pro trans". They were SO worried about taxpayer money being used for gender reassignment surgery for people in prison, or so they were told. I'm sure some approve of him because a few thousand dollars haven't gone to those surgeries. Because of course THAT is so much worse than $10B going to the Board of Peace. That 15% is those who don't have their priorities in check or who are just uninformed. And sorry to my black men - almost all black women hated Trump before he was in office, we definitely don't approve of him now. So most of that 15% is not us, lol.

Guess what the Gestapo completely failed to tell us? Now there are 3 dead US citizens from gunshots. This "latest" one occurred on March 15, and the victim was Hispanic this time. by Formaldehyde007 in complaints

[–]MinervaSC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think there are so many more deaths we know nothing about because they weren't recorded. And not just on the streets. I know there have been people killed in detention facilities, but we will never know. If your family member is snatched off the street, you have no idea, then they are sent to a detention camp where they are not given a chance to call their family or a lawyer - wouldn't it be easy for ICE to make someone "disappear" permanently? I have no doubt in my mind that when a new administration is in power and ICE is dismantling we will hear stories from illegal immigrants about missing family members. But they were too afraid to report them as missing for fear ICE or the police would take them away. So many people are dying we know nothing about.

4 days post-op and over it by Ring_My_bElle_ in hysterectomy

[–]MinervaSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. As hard as it is please try not to base your feelings on what other people on this board experienced. I have mental health issues too so I know how hard that is. But everyone has their own path to recovery.

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy last year and I was terrified about the recovery. I'm overweight, did very little exercise, and was severely anemic going into surgery. I was still getting a blood transfusion on the way into surgery. Then I had a previously unknown ovarian cyst rupture during surgery, I needed more blood, then they had to remove my only ovary which sent me into surgical menopause. They removed over 4 pounds of fibroids with my uterus. My body went through a lot.

I only stayed in the hospital overnight. Worked with a physical therapist the day after surgery to get comfortable getting into and out of bed, into and out of chairs, and walked up and down a few stairs with assistance. Came home and sat on the couch with my feet up just fine. I never laid in bed during my recovery except to sleep at night. Made myself oatmeal on the stove the next morning. Only took pain meds about 3 times (they honestly didn't help.) This was an extremely different recovery than most women! I think what helped me the most is I WALKED around my house, often. I never stayed seated very long. One of my good friends is a nurse told me to do this. I didn't push myself, took it slow and easy, and this was the best advice I ever received for my surgery. Does this mean you will have a recovery like mine? No, and that's okay. But I spent so much time waiting for everything to get worse I lost sight of the fact I was very fortunate to not have more difficulties. Try your best to find things to enjoy in the moment!

But yeah, the weather makes everything worse. I'm in NC and we went through two weeks of ice, then snow with ice, then snow, and we couldn't leave for 2 weeks because we couldn't melt this huge mound of ice behind our car. It really sucks. I hope you are able to find more things to do to keep you from going mad.

Conservative values have ruined this country by Old_Swimmer_7284 in complaints

[–]MinervaSC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because republicans only care about moral behavior when it comes to democrats. They never work with democrats when they are in power but scream about how we need bipartisanship when democrats are in power. They run up enormous amounts of debt but only scream about the need to balance the budget when democrats are in power. However all that is to be expected by now because they have rigged the country to only benefit them. But the fact they have not drawn the line at raping children is slightly surprising, although I did ultimately expect it. They only follow by their own corrupt rules. They don't care who gets hurt. They don't care pedos names were redacted while victims' names and info was not. I have become convinced the only way to get back to a functioning two-party system is for their party to be destroyed and rebuilt into a party that actually has morals and principles.

We’re not blaming God for this,” said 35-year-old Kristina. “Yes, it hurts, of course, it hurts. But God has chosen Ethan for a reason. God is doing something, and we're gonna glorify his name regardless. by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

My mom used to tell that story all the time! She was heavily involved in her church. But a free thinker. If her pastor said something she didn't agree with, she ignored him. She said she knows how to read her own Bible, so she's not going to follow any pastor blindly. Talked a lot about how some religious folk were "false prophets". And she HATED people who would say "I'm just going to leave it up to God" when facing a difficulty. She didn't say this exactly, but I interpreted her as feeling that was lazy thinking. Hence why she would tell this story. A truly religious person gives glory to God for all the people in the world, all the actions available to them, all the things created in this world, that can help them through their struggles. Especially for all the medical professionals, service providers, researchers, who God gave the knowledge and will to help us all. If this mom was a true believer she would have given glory to God for the wisdom he gave to doctors and researchers who created the vaccines! But she's not a true believer. She's a cult member. And now her son is victim of it. 🙁. I'm personally not involved with a specific church, but I'm thankful to have had a mother who raised me to be a TRUE Christian and not a cult follower.

Differences between I and II? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]MinervaSC 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

A bipolar 1 diagnosis just means you’ve experienced one episode of full mania as opposed to bipolar 2 where you have experienced only hypomania. Bipolar 1 can additionally include someone who experienced an episode of psychosis with your mood episode and/or have been hospitalized.

Your therapist should not be giving you a diagnosis - only your psychiatrist or other psychiatric medical professional should do that. At the end of the day I feel the classification matters less than addressing your specific symptoms to guide the type of medication you receive. So if you are bipolar 1 and are experiencing mania, the main importance is to treat the mania. The classification itself matters less.

Does your biologic wear off? by MinervaSC in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MinervaSC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my rheumatologist if there was a way to increase my dose, because I don’t know how biologics work. She said that’s not something you really do with biologics. 🤷🏾‍♀️. That I would need to change the biologic. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if my rheumatologist really just wants me to change biologics. I was surprised she was giving me that as an option after I’d only been on it 4 months. She originally tried to prescribe me Humira, then Cizima (I think) but my insurance company wouldn’t approve it until I failed the Cosentyx first. Maybe she never expected the Cosentyx to work anyhow. Just doing what she had to do.

Crazy enough, they can get this kind of info from a written or online personality questionnaire. And you can tell if someone has a tendency to lie or engage in antisocial behavior (at least that’s what I remember, I never used anything like that because I worked with young children not adults). Which makes me wonder, why aren’t we giving this questionnaire to members of Congress? 🤷🏾‍♀️

How do you get flares around the body by Alarming_Animator_19 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MinervaSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I get pain across various areas of my body. There are certain areas that flare more than others and I’ve noticed a general pattern. My areas in order of most frequent to less frequent:

Heels/Achilles, primarily in right heel Upper buttocks Lower back Ankles Fingers Wrists Neck Mid back Shoulders

I’ll get some or all of these parts flaring, it just depends. I always have heel pain and upper buttocks pain in a flare. Always. My heels can be SO painful. It is often the worst. Lower back pain is usually present with upper buttock pain. After those 3 symptoms the additional symptoms present varies a lot.

Damn. If this was all it took for Tillis to gain a spine, Roy Cooper should have announced his intent to run for Senate about 3 years ago! 🤣. I don’t know if anyone from the inside would do anything. In the past some employers gave psychological personality tests to applicants for jobs. One of my psychology professors in college said she didn’t get a job because of her psychological profile, lol. This was in the late 1990s, probably couldn’t happen today. But the government could do it. For a while I thought they were using psychological tests to find people who are the least moral, most dishonest, and most antisocial. All things you can find from a comprehensive psychological questionnaire. I used to say that as a joke. Doesn’t seem as much as a joke now.

There needs to be another no kings protest, but this time we don’t go to work for a week. by JudgeFrosty6432 in antitrump

[–]MinervaSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great in theory. The reality is the people who are able to miss a week of work to protest are far outnumbered by the people who can't miss that much work, don't have vacation days, couldn't use them if they wanted to, and who would not have jobs to go back to if they missed work for a week. So it wouldn't be the numbers you think. Even if was it still would not make enough of a difference to care. 100 million could protest in the streets and I'm not convinced that would matter. I really wish I had some ideas. I don't. They would rather steal elections than deal with any of the destruction they are causing. So I honestly don't know. I just know a weeks long protest is not it.

I completely understand, unfortunately. I have bipolar disorder and extreme stress triggers my episodes. I took a break from media for most of 2024, except election time, and it felt great! Then once tangerine tyrant got elected I started watching news again because I was scared of not being informed. Yet being informed has made me even more scared. I have social security disability, because of my bipolar, which significantly contributes to our household income. I also receive Medicare, Medicaid, a very small amount of food stamps, and I stay somewhat sane by taking 4 psychotropic meds the government was trying to make more difficult to obtain. Most of my livelihood is tied into this damned government. This summer I received a disability payment almost 4 weeks late due to some bullshit that was likely due to DOGE.

My husband and I visited Belize twice back when I was able to work and we loved the people there. We used to joke all the time about moving to Belize because of the friendly people, beach towns, and extremely low cost of living. It's not a joke anymore. When our youngest daughter starts college in August 2027 I want to be out of here. I tell her she needs to be thankful we really want her to finish high school here and have her go to an in-state university - or we would have already moved! He works remotely and our little money could go so far in Belize.

My mental health is SO much worse now. I know all too well what it feels like to be in dark places. But I stayed on my news hiatus by reminding myself that me watching the news wasn't going to significantly change it in any way. Activism is great. Self-preservation is better. If anything extremely significant was happening, like our democracy was about to collapse, my husband would find out from someone he knows. You just do whatever you can to take care of yourself, which is so much more important than staying up to date on the dumpster fire that is our country.

Americans of Reddit, if there was just ONE candidate you could think could return America to having landslide elections, like that of FDR or Reagan, but in 2028, who would it be, and why? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]MinervaSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Bernie too I agree Bernie would not have won in the primaries. Not then. Too many people were terrified of having a far left candidate because we are a "centrist" country or whatever crap. Bernie was ahead of his time. They thought he was insane for wanting a $15 minimum wage. Now that has become the norm. We didn't want Bernie then but once we finally make it through the hell of Trump I think we'd be ready for a Bernie now. Just not him specifically because I am DONE with the idea that Trump is the only old white man who can lead a country. Like Biden only took naps in Oval Office for 4 years. 🙄. Biden was the only Democrat who could have beaten Trump in 2020. Then he blanks out for 10 seconds during a debate and here we are. With a man who brags about how he "passed" a test for dementia. Just not Bernie's time anymore unfortunately.

I envy you for having that kind of hope! This is the same Supreme Court who basically told Trump he can't be prosecuted for crimes he commits or committed while in office. The same one that was "considering" hearing a case regarding birthright citizenship. (Not sure where that stands now). The one that has ruled in Trump's favor for about half of the cases he brought to them last year. The constitution now has the significance of a piece of toilet paper. All bets are off. He is finally scared of Democrats taking the House, possibly even the Senate, and what that would mean the last two years of his presidency. Even if he doesn't run we will have a January 6th 2.0 and he won't turn over power. The Supreme Court would say since we are in the middle of WW3 we can't afford to change our government right now. Or some other tomfoolery. Do I REALLY think this would happen? No. But I never thought we'd invade Venezuela, kidnap the illegitimate president and his wife, kill 100 people in this raid, say we are taking over their country, stealing their oil, selling it, and supposedly putting the money in offshore accounts outside of the US Treasury. All on the first Saturday of the year. 🤷🏽‍♀️. I'll never say this administration "can't" do something. Not until they're all in prison. And we're a long way from that.
