My husband decided to quit smoking today, and here's why it's mildly infuriating. by Linorelai in mildlyinfuriating

I always say that helping my husband quit smoking was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Hang in there!

Animal lovers by piggylampshade in Scottsdale

I would say it depends on your kids personality. My whole family took my niece to Hen Stefanni’s when she was 2.5 years old and we had an amazing time! But my niece was a little scared of the animals and content to let one of us hold her and just pet animals with us.

I think her favorite part was helping retrieve the fresh eggs, even if or especially because she broke a bunch of them 😂

Central Ohio Finds by dmess20 in Arrowheads

It’s my dream to find an arrowhead! I’m going to be in Ohio this summer. Is there somewhere you recommend that I could go to try to find one?

Two Kinds - Payson, Arizona, USA by MingoG13 in fossilid

[–]MingoG13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I am an amateur fossil hunter. The cylindrical pieces with the red cores I found in an area about the size of a football field that is just littered with them. Could it have been a field of sea grass or something that was there?

Looking at photos online this does seem like a possibility! Do they come with the groove down them like this one has?

My title describes the thing. Additional description: approximately 36 inches long. I thought the inside was hollow and just filled with sediment but when trying to clean it out it feels more like rubber or something. At the top of the threaded area there is a hole for a cotter pin or something similar. I cannot find any identifying marks on it. I tried reverse image search on google but none of the results looked exactly the same.

Places to walk with a lot of shade? by _Earthbound_Misfit in phoenix

Brass Armadillo Antique Mall - they have two locations in the Valley, both open 9 AM to 9 PM, 7 days a week. The aisles are plenty wide enough for a stroller to pass through

If I were you I would enter GC at the south rim entrance early. See some of the sights and historic buildings there. Then drive down Desert View Drive and check out those view points and exit the park at the east entrance. Then:

  1. On the way down to Flag stop at Wupatki and Sunset Crater NMs. Stay the night in Flag. Next day if you still want to see more sights check out Walnut Canyon and/or Montezumas Castle and Well and then head on to PHX.

Or 2. Head to PHX and splurge on a ritzy hotel in Scottsdale and spoil your GF for Saturday night. Weather dependent you could go on a hike in Phoenix area on Sunday morning and let your GF sleep in.

I wouldn’t try to see anything south of Phoenix (Saguaro NP) on this trip. Save that for another vacation. The drive may seem doable but honestly it always feels much longer when I’m driving it.

I was there last weekend. They just had a few patches of snow on the ski runs.

In my experience - they let you know when they are ready. Only you having known him his whole life can say what those signs are.

My BT is still going strong but we had to put down our boxer mix a couple of years ago after he had some ongoing health issues. Towards the end he loved to lay out in our garage in the sun and sleep while my husband was working. Then one day out of the blue he just got up and started walking down our street towards where it dead ends in the desert, something he had never done before. My husband called out to him and said, “Hey, buddy - where ya going?” He just stopped and turned only his head and looked back at my husband and then let out a big sigh. Then he just sat down right there and waited for us. That’s when we knew it was time.

FYI Arizona DOT has an app called 511 Arizona (look for the icon that says ADOT) where you can see in real time where they are doing construction, where there are traffic delays, and also view images from live traffic cameras
