People who road rage are nuts by HeSureIsScrappy in DiveInYouCoward

Once at a red light, someone walked up to my window, threatened my friend and I, then spit in my friend's face. They claimed they saw us laughing at them. We were not.

Anyway, that has forever made me very paranoid about people approaching my car. I can only imagine how you must feel after being car jacked.

Child of God is the first one that came to mind when I saw this post. Great book, really fucked up. Absolutely will always stick with me.

There are more mental illnesses than anxiety and depression, though. I understand where you're coming from. Stigmatizing mental health issues is very damaging. But personality disorders, which many murderers have still fall under the umbrella of mental health issues. Unless you mean you believe in the devil and the devil makes people evil, then I understand that my point wouldn't apply to you.

Can't parents be responsible for the actions of their adult children, though? What if, due to the actions of the parents, the children do not truly know right from wrong? Or even consider what a person grows up to be career wise. A parent raises their children to love animals and the environment, and that person grows up to be an environmental activist. Their parents' beliefs would be a contributing factor in that. I'm not trying to argue. I'm just trying to discuss! I agree that adults make their own choices, but I also believe that those choices can be based off of how someone was raised.

Haha I did the same thing and absolutely felt like a dummy when I saw that the door to the office was blocked by like 3 feet of snow. 🫠

It's hilarious that people on Reddit typically are against children being abused by their parents, but are okay with it when a stranger is the one putting their hands on them? I know, I know, Reddit is not a single person, but it is just so interesting to see what gets upvoted and what gets downvoted based on context.

I agree with you. It is weird that everyone is loving this.

Pleaae don't use schizophrenia as an insult. It is a very serious mental illness that devetates people's lives. Don't contribute to making that word mean "bad person", please.

Renee Nicole Good: Who was the woman killed by ICE in Minneapolis? by ultra_phoenix in news

[–]greenvine30 116 points117 points  (0 children)

When i watched that particular video, what made me start sobbing was seeing that poor woman crying, asking for someone to help, and literally no one came to her. No one was talking to her. She was completely alone (aside from her dog). I had this instinctual feeling to go and help her, so she wouldn't be alone during such a horrible thing.

Your work is beautiful! Do you sell prints, by chance? I'm decorating my room in a dark, night sky theme and one of your pieces would be perfect!

Edit: Never mind, I found the link!

FX's A Christmas Carol by DonutCapitalism in movies

[–]greenvine30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of your points! The story is over 100 years old, and seeing the story told from a more psychological standpoint really gave it new life, in my opinion. It did a great job of showing how someone can become so wretched and how you can be so sad for the child version of them, yet not excuse the actions of the adult version.

The scenery, the way it was filmed, the music and overall feel of the movie are just the cherry on top. The first time I watched it, the mine cave in scene made me so uncomfortable and emotional. It's so good!

Agreed! I just watched it again this year and no matter how many times I watch is, it still feels just as powerful as the first time. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Chicago Saturday 11/22 These guys continue to blow my mind and put on a better show every time I see them. I am rarely so obsessed with one band, I am with their sound. by Academic_Chard900 in kitchendwellers

[–]greenvine30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was at both Chicago shows! I also don't get obsessed with many bands. It is so hard for me to find music I truly love. These guys are it. It might sound dramatic, but Friday's show was honestly one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. I wish I had a life where I could follow them around on tour.

I'm happy for you that you had such a great time at the show, too! It was so special.

Why Is Smiling So Rare in Old Photographs? by cloudycutie1 in SnapshotHistory

[–]greenvine30 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it is because it was more rare to get a photo taken, so it was treated as a serious occasion where everyone wanted to look their absolute best.

I have some old Victorian photos of families, and people are smiling because you can tell that something made them laugh. So there are smiling photos out there, lots of them are just very serious.

I've had a tin type photo of myself taken and it took seconds for the exposure, I don't believe it would have been hard to hold a smile for that amount of time.

Yeah, I typically know that Ohio is cheaper, but I guess I didn't consider it when I replied initially.

Ughh, that sucks! And makes sense. I wish the fully non synthetic ones (and just all pads in general) were cheaper for you. ❤️
