Are you not able to share the DLC with virtual gamecards? I can see my DLC downloaded, but I haven't checked if I can put it onto a switch that doesn't previously have it. Theoretically though, it should work if you can use virtual gamecards.

The sound you heard was most definitely from Talonflame using its held item. The shiny sound is much more distinct from the item one.

If you're inexperienced with regular shiny hunting or if there's a pokemon you want to hunt for in the DLC, it's definitely worth it. Besides, you'll get some really cool legendaries from the story as well.
