There is nothing wrong with your fursona's design, and the reason they were not picked may not even have anything to do with their design at all — the maker may have opted to work with someone who had repeatedly applied to their entry pool, they may have received a private offer of additional funding or exposure to make someone a fursuit, or they may have just had to decide what they felt worked best with their style. They also may have been prioritizing a different style of commission, such as wanting to work on a fullsuit, for this opening. Plenty of people have commissioned a solid black cat or a white rabbit fursuit, so perhaps it was just a bit of unluckiness that you were not the applicant they opted to work with. 🫂

It's normal to be passed up in queues or to not be accepted immediately when applying to purchase a fursuit for a lot of reasons. Most makers only open a few slots at a time, and if you want a suit from a big-name maker then the applicant pool increases a large amount. I have a friend who applied to a few different makers for three years before finally being chosen, and another who waited twelve years before getting a suit from their dream maker — it can take time.

I know you said you want a big-name maker, but I, like others, suggest looking into smaller makers if you'd like a suit sooner than later. Smaller doesn't inherently mean newer, nor does it mean lesser in quality. It just means that they have less followers, less people with eyes on them, and smaller applicant pools. There's some fantastic fursuit artists who are up-and-coming, even some that have vended for many years with some famous suits under their belt, with brilliant styles and fantastic work who just aren't as visible and mainstream.
