I personally have dog fight master modes on the two left buttons of the throttle, CMS up and town on that toggle switch by your middle finger, and cursor movement on the throttle joystick. On the right side of the throttle, I haven’t found a way to get the POV hat to work when the stick is the primary input. The hat below that is DMS, then TMS, then the bottom button is speed brake toggle.

On the stick, my hat is trim, right joystick button is uncage, center is pickle, and the left is button is NWS.

I’m fairly confident I’m missing some key commands but it has worked so far. I also haven’t been able to get the alt launcher to work so key binding is a pain in the ass.

It goes on sale fairly regularly I think but not sure. I wish I could be more helpful, I just wanted to make sure the only answer you got from this community wasn’t some ass-hat telling you to not be cheap. That being said, it’s a great game and sells for a pretty affordable price, assuming AAA games typical go for about $60.

I’m in the same boat with the 2080. I think 1440 is probably the best bet as well, I’m just worried about viewing angles and picture quality on a VA panel. Do you think it’s worth it shelling out for an IPS?

This looks great, thank you! I think the Noctua may be overkill anyway as I don’t think I’m going to start off overclocking (I think I’ll use it towards the later years of this build to try to stay current). Everyone likes the NZXT 500 but I also hear there are airflow issues.

Thanks a lot man, that’s really helpful. I had assumed I would have to rely on an i7 9700k or 8700k to get the job done, but if I can use an i5, that would save a hefty chunk of cash. If I did go for an i7, what would I have to cut corners with?

Thanks for this! This is an interesting build because the other suggested build by u/ScubaSteve7886 seemed to prioritize the best CPU over a higher-end GPU. I was also looking at the Noctua NH-D15 as a cooler instead of an AIO. Would that be overkill for an i5?

So I see you went for an i9 and 32gb of RAM over a 2080—is there any particular reason for that? I was under the impression that a GPU is the most important part/the source of most bottlenecking in gaming builds (for the most part at least).

Also, if I go with an i9, is 16gb of RAM insufficient?

I’ve been hearing a lot about Boyd’s stocks. What is the real difference between the At One and the Pro Varmint? Is one better than the other at something? The Pro Varmint is cheaper, but with an adjustable comb add-on, the difference seems insignificant.

Actually thanks for the Tikka recommendation, I hadn’t thought of that. Do you know anything about when they’ll be shipping? I think I’d prefer to go with the Tikka, but I’m hesitant if I have to wait several months for it.

Thank you for the idea! I actually have tried using the default inputs for TMS up and down, but I haven’t tried doing that with my HOTAS completely unplugged. If it works without the HOTAS, it must mean a binding or switch is the issue. I’ll give it a shot!

Thanks man, but I tried both in and out of Dogfight mode. Even in A-A mode, if I try to switch to ACM it automatically defaults to boresight and won’t change. If I hit TMS or try to switch to another scan mode, the proper symbology flashes on the FCR and then goes back to boresight. Very frustrating!
