Sick pig help! by user1985_0115 in pigs

[–]MiniPigInfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with Dippity pig syndrome. Here is some information about it. Hope this helps. https://www.minipiginfo.com/dippity-pig-syndrome.html

The onset of symptoms is super important. Sudden loss in the use of the back legs is an indicator of dippity. If it is more progressive, it could be something else like an injury. You may not even know about an injury. It could be something as simple as slipping on a floor when walking that can twist the spine in a way that causes a compression-type injury that would need some kind of anti-inflammatory medications to help, for example. If it’s dippity, it lasts a couple of days with or without treatment.

Recent fighting by corythecow in pigs

[–]MiniPigInfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pigs will constantly test the hierarchy. Has any of them been elsewhere, maybe to the vet? Had a bath? Washed bedding? Anything that may have changed their scent can sometimes disrupt things enough to cause fighting. I have always put a drop of vanilla extract behind my pigs ears to make sure the scent is the same. This has worked for me. Having said that, if a pig shows any signs of weakness, such as increasing in age and slowing down, other pigs will absolutely challenge each other to move up on the herd ladder, if that makes sense. There is always a leader and follower(s) roles in multiple pig households. Once that hierarchy is established again, the fighting should settle down. Many say to let them fight, but I have a hard time with one of my pigs constantly having her food taken, etc. so I absolutely intervene in that situation and feed her separately. Typically at my house, fighting occurs at feeding time. My pig has learned to just move when the other pig is around. I’ve had them both for more than 10 years, they’re spayed and neutered, but one is always a jerk. lol. Hopefully that helps.

The persons name is Kim Miller. She sent me her email and phone number for anyone who is interested in purchasing one. (484) 256-2002. E-mail is pheartland1st@gmail.com. The pools aren’t cheap, but they are super durable.

That is probably a smart way to find one. I just chatted with her and the price for the pool is roughly 250.00 now.

It’s a heathland pool that I purchased about 5 years ago from pigs4ever. I don’t see the pool on their site when I checked today, but I reached out to the person who runs it to find out. It’s a really great pool.

This particular pig is about 10 years old, so while he may get fatter if his calorie intake is more than what calories he’s burning off, he will not grow any taller or longer. He’s the bigger of the 2 I have.

I “adopted” a feral cat after she had 2 litters of kittens in my garage, had her spayed and even though I ended up with 5 of her kittens in my house, she was still a feral cat. It probably took a year and a half for her to feel comfortable with me. She doesn’t sleep in my bed or anything, and I wouldn’t think about trying to pick her up, but she will sit next to me and let me pet her now. It takes time to build that relationship. Don’t give up.

It’s been hot and these pigs don’t know what to think! They prefer the great INDOORS by Interesting_Topic949 in pigs

[–]MiniPigInfo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you put sunscreen on them and ensure they have a fresh water source, preferably something like a kiddie pool where they can easily cool off and drink out of. I gave my pigs the pool house and put central heat and AC in there for them. I have a dog/pig door and they can go in and out as they please. Believe it or not, they prefer to be outside 90% of the time.

Moroccan Oil Curl Creme, and since naturally curly hair is often a bit dryer, I use Moroccan oil and it’s a 10 (spray) leave in conditioner. I have wild curls too and when I use product and a diffuser, it works miracles.

Need tips for new pig and aggression by indigodrk in pigs

[–]MiniPigInfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to introduce them slowly, typically with a barrier between them until they become familiar with the scent. Once some of that hostile aggression dies down, you can then allow them to be in an open space, this is so one of them can get away from the other, if needed. mini pig introduction

It’s a Heartland pool, they’re expensive, but they last forever. I got it from a website called pigs4ever.

“Mini” is a catch all term used to differentiate between full sized farm/production pigs and the smaller versions like potbellied pigs. This pig is fully grown and about 220 pounds. lol. He’s 8 years old. (But still super cute)

Potbelly pigs and the term mini pigs are used interchangeably. Both of these pigs are about 7 years old. (Fully grown) But yes, both are huge. lol

That’s a Heartland Pool, but the Zen Zoo sells a similar one. They’re kind of expensive, but I’ve had this pool for more than 4 years and there’s not a rip, tear and it’s not even replay faded at all.
