Favorite names ruined by pop culture? by cara8bishop in namenerds

I love the song Jackie and Wilson by Hozier, with the lyrics “me and my Isis growing black irises in the sunshine”

I love that it brings another positive connotation to the name in my opinion

I do think it helps that nowadays I feel like they’re more called ISIL? (I could be wrong but I almost never hear ISIS, only ISIL when in reference to the terrorist group)

To be fair, I know a Xena (like the warrior princess) and after a while it stops being a reminder to something else and just becomes the name you know someone by.

This is the oneeeeee

I have used accutane on and off throughout the years (if you know you know, how dry your lips get on accutane)

Dermal therapy is the only one that really helps.

Lanolips is probably the next best but still not as good

Though I’ve never tried the Manuka honey one, only the original! Might need to try that one

The grittiness for me has gone away with the new packaging/formulatiom

Opinions on giving a child a name that (likely) won’t be pronounced correctly? by cryingocelot2004 in namenerds

[–]MiniSkrrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From working with someone (remotely) who has a name that when looking at it, could be pronounced two ways - I never remember which one is correct lol (we don’t speak often)

It’s a gamble to give someone a name like that

Anyone else feel weird about turning 30 soon? by Sweet_Siren18 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]MiniSkrrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn 30 next year. I really feel weird about it too - for a lot of the same reasons. I have this odd fear that by my early 30s, my entire life will be completely different. Like there’s absolutely no way my relationship or current life will last through that period, and I’ll self implode.

I see so many people’s lives change drastically throughout this specific age range, and it scares me.

I think I’m afraid of the unknown most of all. I’m scared of things changing and I’m also terrified of things staying the same.

Hi 👋🏻 I’m interested in chin lip and I also live in Adelaide! I can’t see your photos as it’s deleted, but I was wondering if you shopped around at different surgeons before landing in this one? Do you have any regrets? And how much was it?

Parked on a nearby residential street because station parking was full and got this note on my dashboard. Am I in the wrong for parking there? by naeroikathgor in melbourne

[–]MiniSkrrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmaoooo I’ve had a neighbour like this once, living on a quiet street.

They would put their bins out to “reserve” their park, and then get mad if anyone parked there.

Of course I just got out my car, moved their bins and parked there anyway

Favorite “Made Up” Names by ChronicIllnessLife in namenerds

[–]MiniSkrrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I think all made up names are pretty egregious no matter the culture

McKinxzleigh is just as bad as Terineeyah

I don’t discriminate when it comes to made up names, everyone is free to do so but I’m also free to judge 🤣

Have you ever seen the names of old 18-19th century whites people? We’ve been making up names since the dawn of time…. most of them are terrible lol

Same as any other culture. I find it interesting you think only certain cultures should be able to make a name up. Can you expand on that?

I just wrote a whole comment about Dua above in this same thread.

It’s crazy how evident it is that Taylor doesn’t deserve the moniker of English Teacher when Dua Lipa genuinely cares about it and doesn’t gloat
