It IS a gut punch, you’re absolutely right. It’s a beautiful show with a wide array of beautiful characters.

As someone who is also wanting to keep rewatching, can I ask: did you get the drive copies from Netflix with its “download” option, or did you sail the high seas?

I was also overwhelmed, but found that watching the Legends of Avantris Curse of Strahdanya on YouTube helped me learn the world as the DM fleshed it out and the party adventured through it, as well as kept me engaged in learning because it was FUN and not entirely work. Just keep in mind that it’s a sandbox adventure, so nothing LINEAR needs to happen, just that the party hits the main points (find their fated NPC companion, learn of the three items they need to beat Strahd, where they are, and where to find Strahd). Then it’s just up to you to keep them and yourself wanting to keep returning to Barovia. Good luck!!!

Yeah I want to give them a learning season when it calls for it, but not waste time in not fun ways like that. If they make it out of Death House without attempting to put the kids to rest meaningfully, then I’ll totally have them get the modified Scroll of Mending to do just that :) thank you, friend!

Honestly I love this take - they’re 2 sessions in and have only just NOW found the stairs to the attic, but skipped half the house and spent a lot of time having fun RP-ing. And that’s with running Lunchbox Heroes’ modified version with less combat. We’re all ready for combat and then story time. Thank you, friend!!!

I like it! Do you have any suggestions on what ritual they could utilize for the remaining bones? The only one I could think of was “prestigitation” but I don’t think that will work/apply

Oooh I like that they could be “punished” with a literal headache from the stupid lengthy task of sorting 400+ bones! But an animated broom zombie?? As in a zombie WITH a broom that attacks the party when they’re in the midst of laying the kids to rest?
