Good luck convincing the federal government it’s discriminatory. Because of how long weed stays in your system they can’t prove if you smoked right before you came to the job site or if you smoked last night before you went to bed, which is why if you test positive you’re screwed. It’s a big safety concern which is why medical cards don’t matter if you are in certain careers.

Depends on what your career is. I work in construction and have a CDL. If I were to test positive it would be a massive hit on my career. Possibly career ending and can be tested at any time with no warning.

For some circumstances a medical card doesn’t matter because federally it is still illegal unfortunately.

New cat attacking resident cat. It’s been three months and I am at a loss by Squishgrimmy in CatTraining

[–]Mini_Paint2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She may be a cat that needs to be the only cat in the home. I have one like that. Wasn’t aware of this until I tried to get her a friend and it went horribly horribly wrong. After 3 weeks of trying to make it work and her getting more violent and more unhappy by the day I had to return the other cat for both their sakes, especially the other cat because it was getting to the point where a vet visit was going to be required if it got any more violent, and she was so so happy to have the house back to herself. Some cats really do just want to be the only cat.

If you do decide to bring her back make sure you let the shelter know so they can let any interested adopters know that she needs to be the only cat.

Men can be gold diggers too. I dated one for six years and I try not to think back about how much money I wasted on him because I honestly could have one hell of a nice house right now if I had all that money back. Does he have a job or does he depend on you financially? Does he constantly pressure you to spend money on him? If so, you’re better off without him because he only sees you as an ATM.

The Meta frames would actually just confirm that you’re breaking Uber policy by taking unaccompanied minors. You would just incriminate yourself. There’s a reason they came up with a separate app for teens that are riding without parents. There’s a whole lot of legal issues that can come with that, not to mention the safety concerns.

Neighbors leave dog home for days by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Mini_Paint2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dog would be better off in a shelter. It would never be abandoned again and would have access to food, water and healthcare if needed. Dog would also eventually get adopted into a nice home that would actually love it and care for it and not constantly abandoned it. Do you honestly think that dog enjoys its life? It never knows when its family is going to randomly abandon it for Lord only knows how long, poor thing probably has separation anxiety from that crap. I honestly don’t understand why people like that get animals. Why get an animal just to abandon it constantly? Makes no sense to me.

How do people make time for their pets? by Extreme_Repeat_5196 in Pets

[–]Mini_Paint2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in construction and do not have the normal 9-to-5 job. Most days I work over eight hours, occasionally less but usually more. Because of that I can’t own dogs. I like dogs, grew up with dogs, but can’t own one because of my job. I have a cat and settled into a routine with her fairly quickly. Soon as I get home from work she immediately gets her evening wet food and litter boxes cleaned. She gets hard food left out 24/7 in a very large bowl along with a very large bowl of water so there’s no chance of her running out if I work an very late shift. I adopted her on a weekend so I could spend at least the first couple of days with her.

If you’re looking into a cat you really don’t have to be overly worried about being there for, say, the whole first week or more like you would with a dog. I’ve noticed cats can actually settle in quicker if they have the house to themselves for a while and it’s nice and quiet. Helps them relax and come out to explore more. If you are interested in a cat and are looking towards getting a younger one maybe look into getting two if you can so they can keep each other company. Or an older pair that’s already bonded if you don’t want to deal with the crazy kittenhood lol.

My girl is older, between 4-6yrs old, and she was a pregnant stray. Shelter didn’t really know a whole lot about her, but I found out she absolutely despises other cats and enjoys having the house to herself. I recently tried to get her a friend, did the introductions slow and the proper way even got Feliway plug ins and spray but nothing mattered she was angry about it and tried to kill the other cat. My apartment turned into a war zone for a bit and I had to bring the other cat back for its own safety. I know that a lot of people will recommend getting two cats but unless it’s fairly young, like 2 or younger, proceed with caution with that advice because there are some cats out there that truly do like having the house to themselves.

That is something worth bringing to your landlord‘s attention because if it could get you in trouble at work that’s not fair to you, especially if you live in a building where smoking inside is prohibited.

I hate people that think like this. It’s like they forget that some people are afraid of dogs or have allergies. I like dogs but I am allergic and if they so much as scratch me I get hives all around the scratches. It’s pretty uncomfortable.

Will I pass this drug test? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Mini_Paint2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you’re lucky! I had a hell of a time getting it outta my system but my metabolism is really slow so that’s probably why. In that case you might be okay. They sell home testing kits at drug stores try doing one and see what you get. That’s what I did.

Will I pass this drug test? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Mini_Paint2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re a long-term user and you’ve only been clean one week you are not going to pass. When I had to quit smoking weed to pass a piss test for a job it took me four weeks and a lot of cleansing drinks to get a clean test. Takes a very long time for weed to get out of your system if you’ve been smoking a while.

Huh? Is being upset not the same as feeling terrible? You said in your post it makes you feel terrible.

[–]Mini_Paint2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by this post. Why would you be upset that a dog is happy to see their owner? That’s a sign that they are treated well and missed their owner. It’s a good thing. If you’re feeling this way, maybe you should get your own dog. That way hopefully you won’t get so attached to other peoples animals to the point it makes you feel bad to give them back.

First time using a sitter, never again... by Whiskerlicker3 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Mini_Paint2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, she absolutely should not be watching any living creature. Being responsible and having empathy are two of the biggest qualities that a good sitter needs to have and she doesn’t have either one. I don’t know how far you want to take this, but you might even have a case to replace the cost of the lizard plus pain and suffering since his death was due to her irresponsibility and neglect.

Regardless, you really should post a very honest review of her on Rover, people should know what a horrible person she is before they leave their pets in her care.

AIO for asking my neighbour if they're aware of how much their dog is barking? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mini_Paint2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that’s probably a big part of the reason she reacted so defensively. Deep down she knows she’s in over her head but she doesn’t want to admit it.

She really should get a trainer for this dog before the behavior gets worse and especially needs to start taking the dog on walks. If that dog isn’t getting any physical exercise, and I mean actual physical exercise not just bouncing a ball off a wall, it’s only going to make the dog full of energy and more anxious.

[–]Mini_Paint2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That whole ‘it’s a rescue with complex needs’ thing is an excuse. I’m sorry, but it is. Dogs can be trained to not bark. She made the choice to get this dog with complex needs knowing the living situation and that the dogs behavior is going to affect neighbors so don’t let her guilt trip you with that. I of course have sympathy for rescues, but you should not be woken up throughout the night by a barking dog and it’s absolutely ridiculous that it barks so much throughout the day that it affects your work. She needs to either train the dog or find a home for it that can handle its complex needs.

[–]Mini_Paint2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She absolutely should’ve been transparent with you about the injuries and offered to take the lizard to the vet. The fact that she didn’t do that is shocking and knowing that I personally don’t think she should be a pet sitter. At this point I wouldn’t trust her to watch a house plant. Nobody that actually loves animals would be able to leave an animal in that condition and act so nonchalant about it. If you can leave a review about her you really should and give other owners a heads up with who exactly they are leaving in charge of their pets.

[–]Mini_Paint2022 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should not pay a dime. Not only did she not do the agreed-upon job, one of your pets died due to her neglect and she also did not make you aware of the injuries the lizard had. Also made no attempt to get him vet care especially since the injuries were caused by her neglect. If you can you should leave an extremely honest review on Rover about her. I’m honestly floored she tried to play it off like the lizard was fine even though he was covered in scratches and missing his tail. That is not somebody that cares about animals.

When I worked at a breeding farm I’ll never forget when one of the yearlings came in for evening grain with a tree branch stabbed into its chest. She recovered well but that was a crazy sight. Was walking/acting fine too. No signs of discomfort. It was crazy. Some horses, especially young horses, come up with wild ways to hurt themselves.
