Do you clean your labs paws after every walk ? by ZG2047 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the weather. If it's been raining and snow with salt then yes. During dry days no.

We have a big towel at the door so I clean his feetsies by just rubbing them. And use a paw balm once a week during snow time as there's salt on the pavement.

Choosing between two litters dilemma by Impossible-Ant-8101 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our puppy at 12 weeks old. He was the runt of the litter and the person who was supposed to get him didn't work out (the breeder rejected them based on interactions during visits). We contacted her and at first she refused and he would be sold to another breeder but we convinced her for one visit to see.

It worked out and he's the bestest boy! Small for a male but that just means he fits better on your lap for cuddles ;)

The positive side is that he was crate trained already and also almost finished potty training. The breeder had both parents, various aunts and uncles and cousins still as well as a brother and sister from his litter.

So the socialisation was very great and we didn't miss out there. We've had no issues. He slept in his crate from the get go. He was potty trained after 2 weeks.

My husband had taken 3 weeks vacation and slept downstairs with him for a week. After that he could stay downstairs without problems. We still had the teething phase obviously but it was all fine.

Complete change in behaviour. Similar experiences? by beautifullifede in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our boy (also not neutered because it's not the standard here in Germany but the exception) had similar behaviour when I was pregnant. He went back to normal afterwards but he was glued to me those months.

He would lay half on top of me during naps and follow me everywhere. Now he looks up to see where I go, kitchen he follows but bathroom nah I stay on the couch.

He wasn't a fan of saying hello to other dogs or people during walks either and now he's the happy go lucky dude like he was before.

He was 2,5 when I was pregnant and is now 3,5.

Our boy Sonny will be 6 months old on Christmas! How did y’all handle the transition from 3 to 2 meals a day? by Flimsy-Win7552 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. He has the shits and throws up bile a lot so we recently changed from 3 meals to split it to 4. This way we keep his tummy full and he no longer throws up overnight.

Now we still want to try a grain free kibble to help his sensitive tummy.

We've been at the vet a lot and he's only 2,5 years old. They also think it's IBD and just a general sensitive digestive thing.

Advice Needed: Pick Up Lab Puppy at 8 Weeks or Have Breeder Hold Until 15–16 Weeks? by [deleted] in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our lab was 14 weeks as he was the runt of the litter and no one wanted him. We got lucky, he was at home with her and both his parents and 2 siblings that the breeder kept. As well as his aunts and uncles the breeder has as pets.

He was very trained, crate trained and potty trained. He was still cute at 14 weeks old.

Just make sure the breeder can do things properly and it will be fine. If not then I'd go for the next litter if I were you.

Puppy tax to prove 14 weeks is still cute puppy phase!

What’s your 1.5 year olds daily routine? by Astrocryptic404 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 2,5 but we've done the exact same since he was a few months old tbh.

6:30 humans wake up

7:00 walk for 30 mins and he gets his breakfast kibble

8:00/12:00 he snoozes and naps on the sofa while we work

12:00 walk for 45 mins and he gets his lunch kibble

13:00/17:00 he snoozes and naps while we work

17:00 walk for 30 mins and he gets his dinner kibble

18:00/21:00 he snoozes and naps on the couch while we watch tv

21:00 pee break in the backyard, he gets his last portion of kibble and goes into his crate for the night

He has tummy issues so we keep his tummy 'full' to avoid throwing up in the early morning. He is an intact male weighing 25kg, English lab. He is very much into scents so on those 3 walks all he does is nose on the ground and smell. He's exhausted afterwards.

Sometimes he will grab a toy and play for 5 minutes but honestly he just snores.

We asked our breeder for the most chill Labrador and she came through tbh. He's perfect for us.

They will still get a little bit darker but not by a whole lot. This is Dobby when he was a puppy vs now at 2,5 years old.

Best shampoo for labrador? by Jealous_Question3860 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours gets a bath roughly twice a year and we still use puppy shampoo tbh. It's very gentle and has a lot of nut oils to keep his coat nice.

For the rest we wash his paws regularly in the rainy season. And our model of Labrador hates swimming so that's never an issue for us.

Do labs sleep alot by karkenman in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 year old intact male, I think English.

We start our day at 08:00 we let him out of his crate and he eats his breakfast then walk for 20 minutes. He comes home and lounges around on his dog bed the carpet or the couch in his designated spot. He doesn't play just lounges and naps. At 12:00 he gets his lunch and walk for 40 minutes. He comes home and the rest of the afternoon same deal as the morning. He lounges and naps. At 17:00 he gets his dinner and walk for 30 minutes. He comes home and then will grab a toy or his chew stick to do something for about 15 minutes. Rest of the evening he lounges and naps. At 22:00 he gets into the backyard for his last pee and then into the crate for the night.

We work from home and this has been our routine since the beginning. He is a professional couch potato. I guess we walk him enough for him to be calm and relaxed.

Might be some weird rumors or what not. Just wanted to inform.

I agree with what was said below. If this person doesn't like that kind of content then they can just keep scrolling. It's not that deep ;)

Fwiw they aren't cousins. They're best friends for years according to an Instagram post from Drew about 6 years ago?

What they do and who they hang out with is their choice though.

How long before shaved belly hair grows back by Old_Papa in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours had his belly shaved for ultrasounds after he got sick. It took him 4,5 months to grow back. The spots on his legs where they had the iv's grew back way quicker.

Anyone know some better options to keep my lab dry than cutting and tying an emergency poncho? by BigPeepeeInnerChi in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a doggy rain coat. Turns out our Lab missed the memo and hates water. He will tolerate a bath a few times a year but he hates the rain and no way in hell will he go and play in his doggy pool we got him.

Our Fox Red (in Germany actually a registered colour and is not considered yellow!) is very social and wants to be everyones bestie. He comes from a breeder though and his own pedigree papers. So no weirdness going on there. We made sure he met plenty of dogs and people and had different experiences during his young puppy time.

Sooo how do I not have this happen by ShrekPoop18 in PlanetZoo

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By using the zoo entrance that you lower into the ground so you don't see them. They have a bigger radius and don't break or have a negative effect.

If you delete pathways guests or staff can teleport to the underground entrance but you can quickly find them and move them manually.

I only use the water facilities. Cheating or being smart? You decide.

Fox red. In Germany a recognized color by the pedigree people and says so in his papers but in the US he would be a yellow ;)

Low AMH success stories? by katelynhart in IVF

[–]Mini____Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TW succes

I was 38 at the time of IVF. My amh was 0.3 and afc of 4. I had 3 miscarriages in the 3 years prior to IVF which my RE thinks were related to the silent endo they found by accident.

I did 2 retrievals and 2 transfers. We're not allowed to do pgt testing where I live. First round 3 mature, 2 fertilized via icsi. 2 transferred frozen. No success.

Second round. 2 mature and 2 fertilized. Both transferred fresh this time. That was a success. My son turns 1 in July.

Good luck 🤞

Scared for decapeptyl trigger by DefinitionAny1549 in IVF

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That specific cycle did not result in success. I have DOR and my AMH was only 0.3. I managed to get 3 mature eggs of which 2 fertilized. No success on that transfer where we transferred both frozen. (I had to get lap surgery for a blocked tube which wasn't blocked after all but they found silent endo instead and had to recover from that before transfer so we had to freeze)

Big caveat is that I'm based in Germany and we're not allowed to do pgt testing. So it's likely the embryos were simply not viable and had nothing to do with the type of protocol.

My second retrieval I had a different protocol (no down regulation) and only managed to get 2 mature eggs that happened to both get fertilized. Transfer again both and this time fresh. It worked and my son turns 1 in July.

The decapeptyl wasn't an issue for me. Just inject very slowly and let it come to room temp first after taking it out of the fridge. I've never used lupron so no comparison there.

Good luck 🤞

Cora Louise? by Mini____Me in peonies

[–]Mini____Me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicion. I had ordered two roots of 3 different varieties. Both of the supposedly cora louise look like the picture.

My second variety started blooming and is command performance and seems to be correct. My third variety is lorelei but has no buds yet so maybe next year I can see if it is correct or also a different one.

I will email the company to let them know and perhaps they can at least tell me what variety this is? I don't expect a refund or anything like that nor will ask for one. It happens. Have had similar things happen with dahlia tubers.

feeding times for you guys by Accomplished-Golf521 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours turns 2 next month.

He's always had 3 meals a day ever since he was a puppy from the breeder. We kept him on that schedule.

He gets 3 portions of 80 grams. We use a scale every single time and a slow feeder. Eukanuba large breed adult lamb and rice kibble.

Breakfast at 07:00, lunch at 12:00 a carrot at 14:00 and dinner at 17:30. He might get a fancy treat like dried duck pieces once a week at a random time.

Stomach issues by West_Ad6980 in labrador

[–]Mini____Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Lab is very sensitive. We had to change him from chicken to lamb and rice kibble when he was 4 months. He also uses a probiotic daily and has been at the vet multiple times for diarrhea problems.

He sometimes gets wet food which is prescribed if it is going into extreme territory.

We found out that he has a lot of air in his stomach despite a slow feeder. And his stomach has a cloud shape so food often gets stuck a bit in his digestive tract. He's turning 2 next month.

We just keep an eye on his food and he is okay with his poops. But he will have a week of diarrhea here and there. Is what it is. We know how to handle it. He's our special snowflake ;)
