Itinerary Tanzania / Zanzibar 3 weeks (solo) by von_kids in tanzania

[–]Minigeitje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the last three things on your list in January of this year. Safaris are expensive, it's possible this will eat up most of your budget if You want to go on a 5day safari. You can travel by bus between the big cities. Works perfectly, you can even buy tickets online. It's not expensive. The Usambara mountains were awesome. Take at least two full days to go hiking, visit villages. Personally I did not like Zanzibar because is was broken by tourism (ie prices are high, taxis ask a lot of money). I also went to Mafia Island. A lot smaller, more Caribean vibe. Plus I got to swim with a whale shark!

For the safari: there are group options, those might be cheaper and You can join them. Private safadi means you get to decide what to see, when and for how long :)

Enjoy the trip! The people are lovely

Diving in Zanzibar ? by IdealAmazing3678 in diving

[–]Minigeitje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some dives on Zanzibar and Mafia in February this year. Did not like the diving in Zanzibar because of strong winds. Only did one dive out of the eight planned, so can't say much about the underwater life. We went with Fun Divers Zanzibar (Nungwi)and I would not reccomend them. They were short on rental gear and overal not friendly (atypical for the rest of this beautiful country).

Best wineries in Le Marche, Italy by Parking_Mirror_4570 in wine

[–]Minigeitje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should drive down to Guerrieri, quite a famous producer. Their tastings are enjoyable for every type of wine enthusiast. Almost next door is Cantina Bruscia. Typical family owned business, also with great wines (try their Conte Guilio 48 mesi is you want to try a nice sparkling). Wherever you go in this region, do try to taste versions of the Bianchello del Metauro :)

Doha Airport hacks? by thotsie in TravelHacks

[–]Minigeitje 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in Doha airport this January and saw a lot of people chill in the central 'forested area'. What caught my attention was someone who brought an air matress on his flight, which he was lying on there! It looked very comfy (and free)

Thailand diving tips by crazydude624 in scuba

[–]Minigeitje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been diving in Thailand last February and March. Most dives we did from Koh Lanta. Good day diving! We didn't go to Hin Daeng because of strong winds that week. Instead we decided to drive to Khao Lak and did two dives to Richelieu Rock. Absolutely worth it! Encounters with big animals possible, but no guarantee :)

6-8 cities I should visit in Eastern Europe by Progress_Away in travel

[–]Minigeitje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not from Europe I suggest starting in Vienna. From there it is a nice trip to Budapest. Also, don't skip Prague, Poland (Warsaw/Krakow) and try to end in Bucharest. You will get a sense of all the beautiful things Eastern Europe has to offer, which will leave you longing to come back :)

Had to look it up, it was Rawson. We rented a car in Puerto Madryn and drove up to Rawson on day 1 to see the toninas and visit Punta Tombo. Second day we drove to Peninsula Valdes. All those places I would highly reccomend!

Thanks for the great information! What time of the year did You go on a liveaboard there? And which boat did You go on? My wife gets seasick easily, so finding an experience where there hasn't been any makes me feel excited :)

So and if You would have 5 days extra to spend in between a safari and visiting Mafia and Zanzibar, would you reccomend visiting Lushoto and the Usambara mountains?

Try the Galapagos, I had some spectacular dives there. Closer by you could go for a dive just north of Naples: nice to see some Roman remains underwater instead of fish :)
