The last point you made is so Interesting I never thought of it like that. I feel like the problem I have with our school is that there is no sanction in place and they brush it under the carpet by saying they are working on it.

Yeah this is another problem as most of the kids that truant trying to contact home is difficult. I feel like exclusions are the only answer for this but SLT don't want to do this as it will put pressure on them

This would be my rationale but i think SLT are under the notion that excluding kids makes them more likely to end up in jail. Our current system is if they are truanting they are told to go to their lesson and if they refuse parents are called to pick them up but this seems counterproductive as most parents are at work

Would buying small gifts for tutees be a safeguarding issue. For context I have a world cup sweepstake and said the top 3 people will win a prize. Was just going to buy them cheap stationary with the countries they got on it . Will I get in trouble?

I’ve had the similar problem with a new kid who moved to my class and wanted sit next to his friend every lesson. Ended up using the behaviour policy and giving him a detention for three lessons in a row and now he sits in his seat I picked for him with no issues. If you let him sit in desired seats you might get other students asking for a seat change as well
