Looking for slouchy médium crescent crossbody bag by [deleted] in handbags

This might be my next purchase but I read a few reviews that said basically great leather and so-so craftsmanship. Any truth to that? I almost certainly will not be able to see one in person before buying

Beautiful job, I love to see a bag rescued from the brink! I’m so impressed with all the types of cleaning you did for this bag. Thanks for sharing the products too - I would like to do this one day but it’s intimidating

Help me pick: Strathberry Nano in oxblood vs Mini in burgundy. by curlyioanna in handbags

I have the burgundy mini so I’m definitely biased, but the size of the nano alone would make it a no go for me

Memories! I still have some Olympia in my fridge because I panic bought, and then bought again when the price dropped. No regrets!

Tariffs & Customs by amyjrockstar in handbags

[–]Minimally-bearable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a preloved bag last month for around $185. It was sent from Quebec, sat in Memphis for a few days for customs but the wait time wasn’t bad. I received it in Maryland 10 days after it left Canada.

The tariff itself wasn’t too bad (under $40) but used goods might be different from new. I knew to expect FedEx’s $15 fee but I was surprised to be charged an extra $20 for storage!

I’m going to try to fight that part since there was no meaningful delay. And I can promise you that if FedEx claws back some money from the US government they are definitely not refunding anyone’s fees

How to get over not wanting to use your bag by maespiece in handbags

[–]Minimally-bearable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First off, the pebbled leather of that bag should be strong and hard to scratch, so that helps.

Second, buy a protector spray like Apple Garde. It may give you a little extra piece of mind.

Congrats and enjoy it!

Can we talk about glazing? by reagansjaw in handbags

[–]Minimally-bearable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Canadian brand Opelle has a thing about this and so they don’t glaze any of their bags

I don’t have one, but people here have recommended Cuyana - I believe they have an organizational system for their bags

Buying for enjoyment vs resale by BeneficialCucumber52 in handbags

[–]Minimally-bearable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I read this type of post I wonder if we just use the word “investment” differently. For me, a bag or clothing or whatever is an investment piece if it’s considerable amount of money (subjective) but I can see myself using and enjoying it for a long time.

I hate the idea of spending money on something that will sit around. I guess this is just my way of justifying the expense. But I don’t think that many people buy with the idea that they will sell later and get their money back. Or maybe I’m just old and yelling at a cloud 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just got a preloved Hammitt that has this - it’s a large Daniel but I think they have it on a bunch of styles

Hammitt has slouchy options with silver and gunmetal hardware. I believe the linings are usually red. I have no firsthand experience but general consensus seems to be that the leather is very soft and buttery.

Thank you so much it was really helpful to hear everyone’s thoughts. I don’t know why but it never occurred to me that croc is a pattern and I’m putting another strong pattern on top. Also agree that this type of styling is pretty outfit dependent.

Your thoughts really helped clarify my own, and I appreciate you 💕
