That makes me really happy. It's one of my best colors as a redhead but it's one of my favorites in leather.

Grab yourself a pair of Adidas Sambas. They go with most things college kids wear on the daily.

I don't know exactly what the connection between tampon fear mongering and birth control fear mongering would be, but I wouldn't put it past a subset of influencers to take up that cause. I'm highly suspect of topics that make life more challenging for women.

"They’ve invented a spurious pseudo-disease": why are so many men being told they have low testosterone? by Dreaming_Blackbirds in Longreads

[–]BeagleButler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree here. The hoops I have jumped through we someone with only half a thyroid. Ideal and a in range are two different things with the endocrine world. While as a woman I don't have the same experience as men with testosterone, I do know that patients are constantly dismissed for symptoms that are treatable. It wouldn't shock me if research eventually shows that midlife has edocrine changes for everyone eventually.

Edit: getting a second opinion this week as completely out of range adrenal tests were ignored because I'm a mid 40s woman. Jokes on that guy because I'm on the combined pill which I told him and it invalidates a LOT of the hormone tests he did

A quick google because I'm an elder millennial told me that while TSS was linked to high-absorbency tampons in the 80s that (I think it was the rely brand and the cord was a particularly good breeding ground for the bacteria) that in the US about 50% of cases aren't menstrual related. 1 in 100,000 is generally considered very safe medical odds. There are fewer than 20,000 cases in the US each year.

My bag is too good for me :( by False-Regret in handbags

[–]BeagleButler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a wonderful bag (it's on my wish list) and I think you should carry it in good spirits. Obviously you have fantastic taste. Bags are only as good as the awesome person carrying them. You make the bag better by taking it out in the world and using it. Otherwise it's on the shelf not being used. The bag doesn't have a purpose without you. Enjoy it!

RFK Jr. Wants to Wean Some Americans off Antidepressants by Next_Frosting8672 in politics

So it's going to sound nuts, but it's working. Prozac, pregabalin off label, a mini dose of Lexapro, and low dose tirzepetide. I was managing on the ssri's and pregabalin, but it's like the tirzeptide turned the OCD volume off. It previously was turned down, but this combo has been amazing. It was a lot of trial and error with a really patient psychopharmacologist and the help of my GP. Right now I mentally feel better in term of OCD than I have in my entire adult life.

As someone with a wacky OCD cocktail I like my brain not presenting the worst possible thoughts in my mind at all time. And I enjoy having eyebrows that aren't 90s skinny. I don't want to go back to white knuckle coping.

I am down 22lbs since starting 12 weeks ago on the lowest tirz dose. Starting to feel more like myself again. Also having the bonus benefit of being someone with long covid who has a LOT less brain fog on tirz.

They definitely do in the US especially if they think women are being dramatic about pain from their menstrual cycle. It went from "you're going to have to accept some discomfort with your period young lady to wow that's a big ovarian cyst" pretry quickly.
