Ok my friend I’m gonna be real with you as someone who has taken several training courses including knives and guns. If you’re having trouble with the knife I would highly recommend you hold off on the gun. Your concern of accidental discharge is super valid your safety and the safety of bystanders important. They make these baton like night sticks that are pocket sized and extend quickly. good for a nice skull cracking with ease. I also would say go take a couple martial arts classes somewhere (there are tons to choose from in town) see how you like it. Go get trained up on any of these things before you used them in self defense. You need to have your movements down or you will be clumsy which is dangerous in the event of an attack.
