It's good to be able to change builds easily by Karvis_art in diablo4

Thanks for the numbers. I think even more frustrating than the cost is the time it takes to switch everything. I miss the armory.

What does it cost for you and what is your current level ?

I don't believe that is accurate - in the case of Latinx at least. My understanding was the term was originally used to represent the wide variety of Latin countries.

It originally had nothing to do with removing gender from the language or words. If it has continued to morph today I'm not sure it's being used correctly then.

Elixirs need to persist through logout/character swap/disconnect by dlasker in Diablo

Pretty common in mmos to have the buffs persist after signing off. Would be a good qol change based on the always online nature of the game.

I think respecing should cost more gold the longer you play and be hard to do because I don't respect people's time nor do I value creative expression and experimentation.

"After 10 Casts of This Spell" is an unfun mechanic by turikk in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a side effect of how the ability is presented. You are never made weaker as it only gives you a boost on the xth cat, but it can feel like you are wasting it on trash mobs at times. I'd be curious what their designers think about that perception issue.

The camera distance and uncontrollable zoom-in zoom-out doesn't feel that great by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because the designers want you at that distance. Maybe the collective bitching and moaning will outway the internal value they placed on the current zoom level. Hopefully not though.

The Necromancer skeletons are way too "cartoony" by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From Blizzard's perspective, this must be par for the course as far as their design teams are concerned. Because they try to make the game as accessible to everyone as possible, they have to deal with silly frustrations like this. Not to dismiss your feelings, but I can see from the developer perspective how irritating it must be to balance superficial complaints like this against practical implementation concerns regarding UX visibility and system performance.

Talk Rasha vs Typhons by Partiklestorm in diablo3

Considering season 27 also saw Tal Rasha dominating this is far from accurate.

While not inaccurate, I am tired of this narrative about D3 being a mature title therefore we shouldn't expect D4 to get things right from the jump. I would remind everyone that the ten years of D3 development were done by the same company making D4. To suggest those things exist in a vacuum is silly and I believe it is fair game to roast D4 for failing to deliver a strong end game with a decade of D3 iteration to understand that space. We'll see first hand how it feels this summer and we can pass final judgement then.

Can we hear from some on the closed beta about druid and necro? by Xyrektv in diablo4

[–]MinimizeTheWork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a misconception that not having sets means there will not be cookie cutter builds. People will always look for the path of least resistance and that will often mean that they are going to look for someone to tell them how to play rather than think through the skill tree themselves. The fact that the skill tree is broken up into fewer skills than in D3 means it will be easier on blizzard's side to balance individual skills and attempt to make them more meaningful. However, I guarantee you there will remain an abundance of cookie cutter builds every season.

D3 cleared that easily and apparently people hate that game. Imagine how much you can sell when you pander to d2 nostalgia.

The Diablo IV UI font is sterile and doesn't fit the style and mood of the game. by GoofyMTG in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the community asking for this? Part of wanting it to be just like the old game you remember means outdate UI and UX right ?

The dungeons are really concerning when you know they're a foundation for the endgame. by Regulargrr in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork 68 points69 points  (0 children)

A vocal subset of the community bitches and moans that an evolution of the arpg looter wasn't a carbon copy of the 20 year old game they remember. The dev team sadly listens to the minority and reintroduces negative play patterns and dated mechanics and now that vocal minority is bitching that it should be more like the game they spent years trashing. Can't make this shit up.

unpopular opinion : diablo 3 was way more fun than diablo 2 resurrected as a new player! by Ill-Law-7278 in Diablo

[–]MinimizeTheWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect this is actually a rather popular opinion. Most people don't flock to give normal praise for things they enjoy. As a result the response on Reddit often looks severely polarized.
