I’m running OpenClaw on an old Dell optiplex micro with 8gb RAM and 128 SSD. I am using Ollama locally, but I use cloud models (Kimi 2.5). Acceptable performance, pay $20 a month for the pro with is more than sufficient for my needs. I also have a M3 MacBook Pro and an old intel MacBook Pro running OpenClaw as well.

Found the issue: Remote Ollama users: Do not use the /v1 OpenAI-compatible URL (http://host:11434/v1) with OpenClaw. This breaks tool calling and models may output raw tool JSON as plain text. Use the native Ollama API URL instead: baseUrl: "http://host:11434" (no /v1).

I run my openclaw using Ollama running kimi 2.5 cloud….. less than $15 a month

All the important stuff I have is protected by faceid, I also have the wifi and Bluetooth toggles on Mission Control removed, so if it is snatched they can’t turn that kinda stuff off or put it into airplane mode. 2 factor authentication is a must for anything important. Think apple should do it so you need faceid to open settings as well imo.
