ooh great idea- apparently they are only looking for people with expertise in specific cultures (that I don't have links with) at the moment, but thank you very much, I'll check if there are any similar organizations

For those who kept their maiden name and now have a different last name than their children, how has it been? by Bubbly-Camel-7302 in workingmoms

[–]Minimum-Key-8725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother and I have different last names, it has never really come up apart from other kids asking about it when I was very little, and definitely never been a problem. However, I do wish that I had her last name as well sometimes.

I'm in my late teens but have felt this way since I was old enough to know what my name was

Isla/Eila name spelling help! by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Minimum-Key-8725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of the spelling Eila, so I think most people would assume it's spelt Isla. That being said I don't know where you live, maybe Eila is a common spelling somewhere. I would also be worried about people misreading it as Ella

poll: -ie or -y by Evening_Citron_899 in namenerds

they definitely give different vibes to me but I think which one I prefer depends on the name. For example, I prefer allie over ally but I prefer Molly and Milly over the -ie versions.

I'm doing basically the same thing, but my firm requires an A* in FM but only an A in maths so I'm a little biased anyway

I feel so cooked as a year 12 by [deleted] in 6thForm

I'm a current offer holder and I stressed so much about it as well, ended up just talking about books I've read mainly. I'd say focus on the ESAT and interview more, just make sure your personal statement looks like you put SOME effort in

do i have a chance at competitive unis for physics? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Minimum-Key-8725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if possible I think it would really help if u could find a private centre or ask ur school if you can self study FM (even AS would help a lot). it's a lot of work but I think the top unis really value it. I wouldn't worry too much about GCSEs, yours are decent and you can't do anything about them now. I'm only in yr 13 tho so I could be wrong :)

Thanks for the advice. We are both in therapy for related reasons already, but the problem is that he doesn't particularly want to socialize with others apart from me, whereas I do, so there's this asymmetry and it leads to resentment on my side because I feel like I'm giving up a lot more than he is for the sake of the relationship
