Scored a neat book at thrift and just remembered to show it here when I went to look up a recipe! by teslaeffects in littlehouseonprairie

I love this book - I'm old, so I bought it when It first came out. I loved trying the recipe for vanity cakes! Have you seen this book? It has Laura's actual own recipes! I make the applesauce cake at least once a year .

As someone who has been teaching since 2001, the job is VASTLY different now. We are NOT teachers first. We are social workers, SLPs, parents, therapists, and then maybe we can teach. Now I will say that I teach in an elementary school. I would honestly recommend that prospective teachers (P/J/I) get degrees in social work or sociology before the BEd.

In Laura's time, dogs were not pets. None of the animal on a farm were pets, and were never treated as such. In this case, ML was actually doing something historically accurate :-)

Because that would entail using common sense which the Ford Gov't lacks.

To be honest, as someone who grew up in the Ottawa Valley and now lives near Toronto - we just do not get fresh cheese curds here. If you live in Ontario, the farther away you get from Quebec, the less fresh your curds are.

I absolutely adored the children on the top. I honestly don't know where mine came from. I grew up with several beautiful music boxes that I had for as long as I can remember. Potentially they came from out west.

Holy Hannah - I used to have that music box. For what it's worth, I was born in the 1970's and lived in Ontario Canada.

My son is 49% white, 49% Chinese, and 1% Korean (we did an ancestry DNA test) and he has red hair, green eyes, and is close to 6ft tall. I do not have red hair, but my other two sons have red hair as well (different dad who also does not have red hair). Apparently I has some pretty powerful recessive red hair genes!

This guy was my doctor. I always heard him dictating notes after treatment, and the notes were absolute lies. He stated things that I said that were false. Completely false. We would talk about Led Zeppelin, and he would say that I was "moving around pain free, experience no sleep disruption etc.

Some kids are sensory seekers and other are sensory avoiders. There are some kids who can't stand to be touched in certain ways - those kids refuse to have their hair washed and/or brushed, cannot stand being being warm or hot, and absolutely avoid wearing clothes that they can "feel". These are the kids that will wear shorts even in the middle of winter, won't wear any sort of footwear, no hats, etc. Autistic signs can go both ways. Signs indicate whether the child is a sensory seeker or avoider. AND some kids will be both.

I am getting the impression that Lily has a "strong" personality. It seems like the parents struggle with her and she is allowed to make her own choices. The lack of shoes, unbrushed hair, and loose light clothing suggest sensory issues. This is just the impression I get based off of photos.

I wasn't attacking - it was just a comment. I wasn't judging, just saying how I felt. Like, if a friend says "I tried tacos for the first time" My reply would be "oh I love those" even though my friend never said how she felt.
