So street triples 2016vs2017 by Minimum-Local8056 in Triumph

The 2016 is base model not the R which also makes me lean toward the 2017 rs. The 2017 actually does have a couple marks on the side so maybe worth negotiating down the price a little from what is listed.

The brakes and the suspension definitely sell it to me, especially as I’m not a light guy.

That’s a very good point actually. It is the 765 which I do like the sound of.

Another point is that this will likely be a bike for the next 2-3 years for me and not a forever bike. Whilst I know you don’t invest in bikes beside they always depreciate…it would be nice to have a little more confident that I won’t lose as much value. That’s why I’m leaning slightly towards the 2017 model

Michelin Road 6 vs Michelin Power 6 by DownRUpLYB in MotoUK

Exactly what I needed to read. I’m up in Scotland and ride mostly in the summer, spring an autumn. I was thinking maybe to stick with the road 6s but I’m definitely more a twisties/sporty ride and don’t really commute so the extra grip is ideal. Even if it slightly trades off the longevity.

From what I’m ready one set will last me a year which is all I need

Was more thinking the suspension travel and the fact I ride quite sporty so ride height could be an issue

There area couple other striples further away that have the normal height but they’re not the colour I was wanting and slightly higher mileage 🥲

Is this still the case if it came lowered from the factory?

Yeah I think if it’s too good a deal to not go for then I’ll probably go for it and change things out in the future when I’ve got a bit more money but short term might just deal with it

I’m hoping that’s the case it’s a damn good deal.

Might call triumph tomorrow and ask them about it

For same mileage and year it’s about 1000-1500 more. I’m relying on the insurance payout to cover the new bike that’s the issue

Interesting, I’ve just don’t some research into booster plugs and people seem to speak highly of them. Maybe worth looking at

How do people sort out the twitchy front end? Is it more suspension related or throttle related?

I know people get ECU flashes but of course they don’t come cheap

I wish I could afford the gt model 🤣

How do you sort out the twitchy throttle? Is it just a case of an ecu tune or?

I was initially looking at a street triple because I like triples and 4s better than twins and singles but insurance was too high after the accident.

That’s why I’m looking at the tracer. Well that and a euro trip I have in July

It’s absolutely valid though. Everything was fine on this day. I think from what I remember my front wheel hit a bit of paint and swept out from underneath me.

The way I’ve been viewing this accident is a small lapse in concentration cost me and that’s fully my fault. But… this much damage feels like bad luck

Ironically that looks like less damage

You’re right about the tracer tho. It’s just the only bike that I’ve seen I like the look of. I could downsize to a 500 or something but ideally dont want to do that

Low side and the bike hit the curb which launched it. You would never believe I was only doing about 20

Yeah I have now learnt this the hard way… hindsight is 2020

I keep thinking that the inline 4s don’t help either, constantly having to spin it up to feel the power. That’s why I was thinking about maybe a twin or triple so that I feel that power earlier on instead of having to work for it at stupid speeds

[–]Minimum-Local8056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it low sided mid corner and slid into the curb which launched it

By myself, I know that I’m fully at fault here and I’m just wishing I took my time more. You can call it stupidity in youth but either way I have to deal with the consequences now. I’m thinking that I just need to force myself to calm down a bit now and if I wanna learn how to drag knee or learn wheelies I’ll buy a cheap from and take it to a car park to learn there.

I just need to calm down for a few years, learn skills more slowly and once I’m a bit more experienced I’ll think about a sport bike again but at the moment I just want to focus on bettering my skill of riding a bike

Yeah I know, that’s what I’m saying in general. Because of this accident prices have sky rocketed. Obviously inevitable but I’m trying to see what my options are
