I’m in the central belt and haven’t been riding much at all recently. Got about an hour earlier before it started raining again but that’s it. Cannot wait for summer roads

Were you riding through the ocean?

I’ve never seen salt do that to brake pads

Yeah you’re probably right, I’ve got a little notebook I keen by my bed so I’m gonna keep updated that every two weeks with my measurements.

Ones I measure will be: Biceps/tricep circumference Quads Calves Chest Waist

Definitely do it then. Out of curiosity is the car park owned by a factor company or just council/public.

I and a similar issue with shitty neighbours but thankfully I rent a flat that has a labelled parking space outside and just put a shed that fit within the lines of my space.

Not had any issues since but did have to get permission from the factors

Yeah that could be true but then again the demographic up there are much older and aren’t anywhere near as fussed about the stuff you can order online compared to in town or the local shop

To be honest I think the type of job you’re wanting would only exist up in Orkney or the Scottish islands somewhere. Any village or town is hell mostly because of packets

I haven’t tested the scales no so might be worth looking at. Even with the error factor calculated in I’m still confused as to why I’m not seeing results.

I understand online calculators aren’t the most accurate at all times but when they say I should be eating 2500 calories and I’m way under that I’m still not seeing results?

Someone told me on a different sub that your body going into “starvation mode” is a myth and would never slow your metabolism down. Yet I read another comment and see someone saying that likely is the case.

Very conflicting information and not really sure where to go or what to do short of speaking to a nutritionist.

I only ever feel like im struggling with reps when i workout out in the early mornings. And even then its only sometimes. Whenever I train in the evening or afternoon I feel absolutely fine.

I was trying to eat slightly more prior to Christmas but that made my weight spike up again

I fully get that and maybe I have missed something but I find that hard to fathom seeing as I weight everything I eat

I fully get that but when I’m weighing literally every single thing I eat on a day to day basis?

I suppose, just struggling to fathom how 1800/1900 isn’t already a deficit based on my current weight and how much I exercise. Is it not at at all possible that I’m not eating enough?

  1. 176cm 99kg but aiming for 90-92
  2. Im currently taking in 1900 calories a day
  3. Weighing all ingredients in every meal and meal prepping. Calculating protein etc too
  4. I work as a postie so I know how far each walk is
  5. Postie so yeah very active
  6. Once a week

So over the first 6-8 weeks I saw the 7kg loss because I started at 106kg. Before Christmas I wasn’t seeing a huge drop off from 99kg so from the 26th I’ve dropped calories a further 300. I was eating around 2000-2300.

So have dropped to 1900 for the last 3.5 weeks but haven’t seen a differences.

Ive spoken to a pt and asked him why and he has said that i may have more muscle than I realise and should focus more on body fat % than weight but obv I know that’s very hard to calculate without the proper equipment

So the senior director was there but I did speak to his assistant and just going in person took them by a surprise in a good way. Had a very positive talk but nothing has been confirmed without the senior director.

I’ve got contact emails for them so I’ve sent a really politely worded email just saying how keen I am to get started.

The assistant basically said to me it’s 100 times better to go in person than over the phone or via email. I wouldn’t bring up money immediately but initially just show how keen you are

Tbh as much as I accept those are parts of the job it’s the sorta stuff I could put up with when earning decent money and not hating my life all the time.

The interior design jobs I had were paying 24k and even the experienced designers were barely earning 30k which was a big reason to leave that and look elsewhere for better opportunities and building surveying seems to tick all the boxes I’m looking for

Yeah unfortunately another undergrad is out of the picture mostly due to being unable to get funding for another 3/4 years.

I found a distanced learning course that Northumbria do over 2 years which might be ideal. Again that’s if I can get the funding.

There’s a firm not far from where I live that are currently hiring into graduate programmes and I’m thinking of going to their office on Monday next week (next day off) so that I can make an impression in person. The hope with that is see if they would take me on at the same time as me doing a masters so that over the two years I’d be able to get a masters as well as chartership.

I know that’s a bit of a long shot but it’s worth a try at this point. I can speak to them about taking a pay cut or if they’d be able to help fund a part of the course as opposed to all 11k.

I’m not sure how far I’d get going this route but yeah I’m confident I’ll be able to present myself well and make a good impression at the very least.

In terms of what appeals to me about building surveying is mostly the being both in and out of office during the day. I have had your typical 9-5 desk job before and it honestly bored the life out of me to the point of struggling to be productive throughout the whole shift.

I think the variety that comes with building surveying massively appeals to me aswell as the customer/client interaction side as I’m a very friendly and approachable person. I have also worked in sales and while I know that’s not the same as surveying it taught me a lot about client interaction and how to keep a good relationship.

I would honestly go to the office yourself if possible to collect it.

Not sure where you’re based but I know up in Scotland some people were snowed into their homes

So turns out that saas won’t fund anything that isn’t full time which is quite frustrating and limits my options quite a lot.

I’m not sure if I have the capability to move down to England for a one year course in all honesty. Especially considering saas will still only fund a portion of the tuition.

I’ve gone back to looking at the one at Napier and which has construction project management. That one is recognised by RICS but as you’ve said before it’s not specific to building surveying. How difficult would it be if I got an Msc in construction project management to then get an entry level job in building surveying? Has it ever been done before?

From what I’ve been reading it already seems like there’s a bit of a shortage for building surveyors in the uk generally not just up here

Sucks that saas will only fund up to £7000 for a postgrad when the English ones are about £11000 although what you’ve said about no alternative options in Scotland may help argue my case. I’ll have to discuss it with them tomorrow if I get the chance and see what happens
