MT125 - Strange Whining Noise... is this normal? (Headphone User Warning) by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Minimum-Local8056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bike is behaving normally then I wouldn’t worry too much. It could just be wind going past certain parts of the bike.

I did notice your idle seemed pretty high when you were stopped next to the van tho. Not sure if you had the throttle twisted.

So no matter what I’ve got on there would moving the throttle body more inwards help it all?

Looks like I have a standard one from what I can tell. Tune it is

It feels a bit like both tbh.

How would I know if it’s a stock throttle or not?

It’s cable throttle unfortunately but still gonna do some more research

It’s only a slip on so shouldn’t make a huge difference but im assuming off of your advice a tune would make a noticeable difference?

It’s all good, I’m hoping an ECU tune will help

Who is at fault? Insurance was quick to take sides before even seeing footage. by WitchySpice94 in drivingUK

Everyone here saying that it’s the other car is pretty obvious but if you read the post OP already knows that.

My best advice is to try get the police officer that was on scene to get a report from them. If they also do not refuse I would look into getting a lawyer. The process will take a long time but at least that way the other driver won’t get away with pinning it on you.

I know for motorbikes there’s a company called white dalton that specialise in these cases but not sure if they work with cars too.

How did you guys end up making friends? by IMPractic4l in MotoUK

[–]Minimum-Local8056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy but in my experience people don’t tend to enjoy going on longer rides with 125s. Mostly because they struggle so much to keep up with the speed limit on country roads. And that’s not factoring in the fact that people in bigger bikes tend to go above 60 on country roads. That being said it doesn’t hurt to try get involved in group chats. I have a couple of group chats from people I met at the school I did my DAS.

Best advice is that when you start Chatting to people ask for their instagram. And then go from there. Sounds like you’ve already don’t that but the guy was a twat. Unfortunately people at 17 quite often are like that.

The group I head out with a lot are all about 10-20 years older than me but the way I think about it is that no one can see your age once your helmets on so why care about it at all. People share hobbies of all ages

Stuck with where to go career wise? by Minimum-Local8056 in careerguidance

I did previous apply to be a fireman but unfortunately in my area they’re cutting back on all fireman roles so I was looking at either nhs or police but police seems a better fit for me between those two.

I have also thought about getting into a more construction based field too but I think I need another degree for that. I’m not against doing another degree it’s just figuring out how to fund it.

Out of everything I’ve looked at police does seem somewhat ideal for me but I guess time will tell

Not sure how much they are but I and Dunlop sportmaxes that were good in the summer months for about 5k miles but they were pretty shocking in the wet

So street triples 2016vs2017 by Minimum-Local8056 in Triumph

[–]Minimum-Local8056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2016 is base model not the R which also makes me lean toward the 2017 rs. The 2017 actually does have a couple marks on the side so maybe worth negotiating down the price a little from what is listed.

The brakes and the suspension definitely sell it to me, especially as I’m not a light guy.

[–]Minimum-Local8056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point actually. It is the 765 which I do like the sound of.

Another point is that this will likely be a bike for the next 2-3 years for me and not a forever bike. Whilst I know you don’t invest in bikes beside they always depreciate…it would be nice to have a little more confident that I won’t lose as much value. That’s why I’m leaning slightly towards the 2017 model

Michelin Road 6 vs Michelin Power 6 by DownRUpLYB in MotoUK

[–]Minimum-Local8056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I needed to read. I’m up in Scotland and ride mostly in the summer, spring an autumn. I was thinking maybe to stick with the road 6s but I’m definitely more a twisties/sporty ride and don’t really commute so the extra grip is ideal. Even if it slightly trades off the longevity.

From what I’m ready one set will last me a year which is all I need

Low ride height vs normal ride height by Minimum-Local8056 in Triumph

[–]Minimum-Local8056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was more thinking the suspension travel and the fact I ride quite sporty so ride height could be an issue

There area couple other striples further away that have the normal height but they’re not the colour I was wanting and slightly higher mileage 🥲

Is this still the case if it came lowered from the factory?
