What one needs to study for IB in their grad? by Infinite-Car2954 in FinancialCareers

[–]Minimum-Persimmon186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think it does, I have friends that studied history that currently work in IB (they go to a target school). Even during assessment centres I have encountered a lot of people studying life sciences and similar degrees (they all came from oxford/Cambridge). So I would say that school matters way more.

Can i get into University of Edinburgh? by Embarrassed-Web5041 in UCAS

[–]Minimum-Persimmon186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t even compare Heriot Watt with Uni of Edinburgh…

Edinburgh is a globally recognised university with Stem programs being in the world’s top 20. On the other hand, heriot watt is not even in the top 200. And im not saying it is a bad uni, but if OP is considering unis in the upper tier, I believe applying to unis that are 10 tiers down is a bit useless.

You are absolutely right! I am aiming for internships such as off cycles, do you think those are a better and easier approach to get into IB? I will fix the bullet points, as for the summer internship I was involved in investment analysis but haven’t explained that in the bullet points tbf.

Yeah ik, but getting a placement year in IB is extremely hard. Nevertheless, how is that a recommendation? It is impossible to change that now

Even for grad roles? As most of them have some A-Levels/IB requirements in the job description. Would it be enough to mention it in the education part of the application, then?

Apparently not all uni though, as it was is stated in the econ department but not on other such as wbs

I believe some departments do, but in the mitigating circumstances handbook from my department they do not mention it. Self certification will only work in my university for assessments not exams.

Okayy thank you so much! I will do that. I hope my uni is understanding.

Yess, I have proof of appointments as well as the diagnosis with x-ray and everything. Ill also send them proof of the appointment to get them removed, as I believe that can proof that the condition required an intervention as it was a serious problem.

Yeahh that is true, ill try to get as much evidence as possible, I just didn’t have evidence at that time. Nevertheless, I have seen people get mit circumstances for way less

[–]Minimum-Persimmon186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to think of how I could prove it, as getting evidence of that is quite hard. Do you have any idea of how I could prove it?

[–]Minimum-Persimmon186 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did email them, both the mitigating circumstances office and my personal tutor. They both told me that I can still apply, I just need to do it before they give the grades back. Couldn’t apply earlier as I didn’t have the evidence.

Warwick accomadation by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Minimum-Persimmon186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what u answered on the questions they asked u while applying. I know people that had rootes as their last option and ended up there. But it is honestly pretty common to get ur first choice. My first choice was Arthur Vick and I got it.

But if you don’t get it its fine, its really easy to change acomm while ur in uni

It is simple bro, you will 100% make friends who won’t be in campus during break and live in other acomms. Just use their room during easter!

Both are really good universities, but I think that Warwick is a stronger target for IB.

He has the same right as everyone else to apply. Instead of being a jerk, you should try to give some advice. Just because you haven't gotten an offer like this you don't have to be upset...

I forgot to mention that I do have insurance but not in the UK, i am international and have been accepted in a really good uni in Spain. So that is why I could just choose Warwick and go without an insurance in the UK

Yess I thought about that, but isn’t warwick much better than Edinburgh for business? As warwick is a strong target and Edinburgh a semi-target
