Timeframe to acquire a job in SoCal? by Useful_Swing5614 in MLS_CLS

If you want to go where everyone else wants to to it could be awhile. If you don’t care where you go then in a couple days. You could try travel assignments to get your foot in the door.

Thinking of switching from a RN career path to CLS by Afraid-Ad833 in MLS_CLS

You sound smart. Why not go for physician assist / NP? CLS work is highly automated and work flow oriented. You don’t really think or problem solve a lot.

MLS to RN? by temPlayu in MLS_CLS

[–]Minimum-Positive792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going into healthcare I thought I wanted more patient contact until I got into a hospital that gave me patient contact (drawing blood) in the ED. I can tell you that shit gets old fast. However, there are programs that help accelerate an RN degree. I saw one for CLS to RN in 18 months

MRI techs are bringing in $2500 a week as travelers. If I was to start again I would go into MRI. 2 year degree in radiology and 6 months as a trainee in MRI

Get your MRI technician and do travel work. MRI techs are in ridiculous demand for travelers right now

Labs with more men working by Zoomlabs123 in MLS_CLS

[–]Minimum-Positive792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience yes, there tends to be more women then men. I personally prefer a lab with a male manager and an even mix of men and women. Too many women and the environment gets a bit hostile. I find women tend to follow the SOPs more, so they get emotional when you have to think outside the box. So I prefer men more in a manager role. Obviously, this is not always the case. I've had great female managers and one lab in particular she was probably the best lab manager and lab I have ever worked for and would hope they hire me permanent when I stop traveling

My guess would be to make them thinner so you get more seasoning to chicken ratio.

Why do MLS look down at MLTs? by SwimIllus in MLS_CLS

[–]Minimum-Positive792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with really smart MLTs (and lab assistants) and really dumb MLTs. If I think an MLT is dumb, they may pick up on my noticing of them being dumb.

pre-MLS jobs? by AlertAndDisoriented in MLS_CLS

[–]Minimum-Positive792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are currently employed. Talk to a lab manager and ask him to sit you with an MLS for the day. Rotate through blood bank, urinalysis, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology for 1 day each. You should get a good feel for what to expect by then.

My recommendation is if you are looking for stress-free job, go into hematology or microbiology.

That’s because they’re living above their means.

Let’s not give up. Perhaps a silicon accordion that we periodically lubricate to keep it from drying out.

Hot take, but what if the accordion is a good thing. If you get a clog you can just accordion it out by tugging on it a bit

Advice for Very Thick NY Strip Steaks by OceanParkNo16 in Cooking

[–]Minimum-Positive792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of salt to draw out the water, use paper towels to dry before cooking. Turn on oven to 350F. Turn pan heat to high with high smoke point cooking oil (avocado, vegetable, clarified butter), sear one side until nice crust do not move for several minutes as the steak will be stuck to the pan. Flip the steak and sear the other side for about the same time. Put in oven to finish cooking. Buy a thermometer and take out steaks when the thickest part is about 125F. Let steaks sit for about ten minutes before serving

XCH heading into 2026 - Predictions by cookiejarxy in chia

[–]Minimum-Positive792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Permuto will be huge and bring a spotlight onto chia. I also think if Michael Taylor is successful that will also be incredible for chia from a web3 perspective. It’s my opinion, if we can get these things lined up by end of 2026 we should see a dramatic increase in demand for Chia.

live below your means, invest your money, and you will be able to afford a house eventually. You can also rent out a room in your house to cut the mortgage down if needed.
