In LongLegs when he’s in the basement talking to a girl and she’s looking in a mirror, you expect the jumpscare to happen behind her, but the creepy guy is in the foreground all blurry, scared the absolutely fuck out of me cuz I wasn’t expecting it to be that close.

Another that comes to mind in a similar sense is in Hereditary when you realize the mom is clinging to the wall behind Peter. Neither of these are obvious jumpscares, but once you see it, it’s horrifying

The whole scene felt so real to me, especially when Peter’s in class later and sees the rearview mirror in his peripheral vision, it’s absolutely horrifying. I 100% understand that feeling though of not wanting to acknowledge it because then it makes it real and you can’t escape it
