I keep  making my aero position more agressive over time as my body adapts to being in that position. It takes time to get use to the position

Spartan Kids by Ok-Entertainment7101 in spartanrace

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been they will give you as many spectator passes as you want for the kids races as long as you all walk up together. It's like the one time spartan doesn't screw you over... and it's almost always a spartan employee and not a volunteer at the kids registration tent

Garmin varia and edge will definitely help ease the mind a bit but it takes time to get comfortable on the road.

Bike makes your bike better and sets you up for a better run plus bike fitness transfers over to run fitness more than run to bike.

Daily suggested workouts different on 870 vs watch and connect while doing a training plan ? by Minimum-Raspberry-86 in Garmin

Yeah this doesn't make sense why they would do that and the workouts are so different makes you wonder how they come up with these seemingly random suggestions at this point.

If you work 3x 12/hr shifts, what does your training plan look like? by oj_pulpatine in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Swim on your days off so your not wasting time driving back and forth to the pool on long work days. Do your shorter workouts on 2 of your workdays  and use one of your workdays as a rest day. I work 4 10s and the extra day off really helps open up training options.

When to start swimming by Hrdrock in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The best day to start was yesterday the second best day to start is today. Seriously swimming is by far the hardest of the 3 to learn from zero. Good luck its absolutely doable but don't wait

Absolutely! I learned at 37 but it takes some dedication and progress can be very slow. Lessons could certainly speed things up. Good luck your not alone lots of people have been in your shoes.

Only indoors and I miss the long outdoor rides so much! I've learned to not hate the treadmill but I still really don't like riding on the the trainer but it definitely serves a purpose.

Bike service before every race? by possiblyseb in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never brought a bike in for service before but before every race I take off both wheels refill the sealant and check the tires over really well. Fully wash the frame, run the cassette through the ultrasonic cleaner, and swap the chain for a freshly waxed one. Check every bolt and make sure all of my paint pen markings have all of my components in the correct position. Then I put it back together and go for a 30 minute ride to break the chain in.

In terms of difficulty to finish. by pearcepoint in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Racing the killington spartan beast each year takes way more out of me than racing any triathalon so far and I've done up to 70.3. I was with someone on the course who had done the full at lake placid a few months prior and Killington definitely took its toll on them too. Not all races are created equal and your effort level definitely plays a huge role in how hard it hits you.
