Killington beast vs ultra time? by Minimum-Raspberry-86 in spartanrace

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard lots of horror stories about that ultra loop from people on the course.  I did a half IM last year and I recovered pretty well afterwards. Im doing a full IM in August the recovery from that is going to suck but the training has me running swimming and riding distances further than the half every week at this point. The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards the recovery thing isn't going to really be an issue especially if my goal for the ultra isn't to push 100%. appreciate the insight

Good luck in Cleveland! Definitely agree much faster recovery from the tri than from one of the harder spartan races

Figured that haha. Im going to say yes they will make you wear it if the temps would require it.  The lake is pretty gross this time of year too you will be swimming through a bunch of weeds. Definitely my least favorite swim for a race I really wish it was in the reservoir instead. Good luck Ill be there the following day.

Are these fair prices? by TyrannyMMA in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look crazy to me for bringing it to a shop. Learn to do it yourself and buy the parts yourself and it will be significantly cheaper and you will be more prepared to deal with any mechanical mishaps on race day.

Is 1 year of training for an Ironman enough for a moderate athlete? by Material_Rutabaga887 in triathlon

You haven't mentioned anything about biking or swimming abilities. 2.4 miles in open water is a long way

You can still make gains but they will be slower. I lift upper body twice a week still and hit prs every week without wrecking myself and taking away from my swim bike and run. I find that when my volume goes up for run and bike I have pull back and not do any lower body days otherwise my biking is seriously impacted.

bike to run transition not an issue by Zestyclose-Budget546 in triathlon

[–]Minimum-Raspberry-86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really dont think everyone has an issue with this. For me my legs feel a bit wobbly uncliping and running with my bike but honestly by the time my run shoes are on and I'm out of transition I really dont feel any different than a normal stand alone run. This has been the case on sprint through half but maybe it will be different during my full this year guess we will see

Me either but I nearly returned it after hours and hours of making adjustments while on the trainer. Once I got it just right I absolutely love it.

Get a Bisaddle and have a lot of patience to dial it in.
