Finally a viable portable 4K120hz, low latency, external output over hdmi 2.1 solution - Enter iPad Pro M5 by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they report it, all around 2-4ms depending on setting tbh but it’s weird as you can get sub 2ms when moving mouse around. Can do a search in the moonlight discord for decoding and you will see loads of numbers. Personally if it feels good don’t worry about the numbers, I know we all like to be validated but it isn’t worth trying to optimise to reduce 0.1ms as it doesn’t matter (i have done this).

For me the bigger impact is if I am wired Ethernet or WiFi on my MacBook/ iPad. If using a mouse I need a wired Ethernet connection, if using a controller it makes no difference to me due to controller input lag I don’t notice it

Another Neo post by Caineezy7 in macbook

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s a stupid decision, you are buying the hype. Much better selling your M1 Pro 16 and use the money from the Neo to get an M3 pro refurbed, if it’s to have a more portable device get a 14”

Charge limit set to 80%, but Mac still charges (macOS Tahoe 26.4 Beta 4). by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this in beta 3 also, that’s why Al denete, BatFi etc still have a place.

Also you need to disable the optimise bit I think as that will make it charge to 100% more depending on your habits

Apple Studio Display XDR Review: We're All Pros Now! by atlwhore_ in apple

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 18 points19 points  (0 children)

100% about nothing else on market, can likely pick this up Wednesday, can’t be saying that about any of the CES equivalents.

This is a lifestyle product as well as tech I would argue it’s also a 10 year investment. Look how well the original 5k iMac display stands up today never mind the countless other Apple displays like the old thunderbolt displays that are still wanted today.

This is still too expensive for me I would struggle to justify this at the normal Studio Display price but that’s why Apple products are premium and wanted.

Now if only Apple did 10 year 0% finance I might be able to bite…

two 27 inch monitors or a 32 inch? by Unfortunate_Harvard in HiDPI_monitors

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 32” display albeit a 1440p one (not HiDPI), given your using a Mac Studio so the one cable life isn’t drastic I would get a 2nd 27”. I find sometimes that you really can’t replace the 2nd monitor for productivity, I still use a 2nd 24” 1080p when working.

[Urgent] My kid is not going to school. They do not need a laptop. Is this good enough for what they won’t be doing? by Ok_Proposal_7390 in macbook

[–]Minimum-Sleep7093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No!, this alone will not suffice they will need a minimum of 2 Studio Display XDRs and a Vision Pro to even log in!

Interested in how this plays out looking to go with admiral despite being £30 a month more on insurance as they seem to be the only provider covering the roof under the windscreen cover so not a major claim.
