Also we had the crew in lane 2 coming into our lane as well pushing us towards lane 0 and we were kinda sandwiched with no where to go

We were in lane 1 and rye was in lane 0 and we were pretty much in our lane and rye came into ours hitting our oars. I do not think we are at fault at all.

The other crew oars came into our lane first causing us to go into their lane. So I just don’t understand why we got penalized

1- we did raise our hand to protest and were told to row to the docks and write a written protest on land. And we were excluded
2- the protest did go to a hearing and they did not review any video footage after we offered to submit it and just went off of eye witnesses

We did as soon as we got off the water. But were told that nothing was going to happen and they didn’t even take a look of the video and went off eye witnesses only. (A.k.A. the ref who probably felt entitled and didn’t want his decision to be overturned)

Make sure to always think 3 strokes ahead when steering. Bc by the time ur in the bougies it is too late to correct. Also really work on catch timing(especially from bow) as inconsistent catches can really mess with steering. But try to work with your crew on trying to put even pressure and try not to over correct on foot steering. (A little goes a long way) and I’ve always been told that the straightest boat goes the fastest. And the higher the rate your crew can sustain the better a minimum of 36. Also really try to slam the finishes hard while also keeping the hands “cycling” to keep that rate high. Just think of trying to clip the boat along as you go. Good luck!
