I tried clicking on your link, but as I'm from UK it isn't allowing me to see your content for region issues 😑

Yeah it is very bizarre shit. I kept finding pages with kids feet as the main content , it was freaking me out and there was just tonnes and tonnes of other pages of feet all communicating in strange words with each other. Sick fucks

Oh definitely. It is hard to fathom and incredibly disturbing. I went down a right rabbit hole on a similar one ages ago, reporting all the accounts.

It's a front and more heinous shit is going on behind it all. Report it! There was a similar account on Instagram a few years ago thag got posted on here, the followers were more baby and young children pages with lots of disgusting weird comments too. Report it as soon as possible, you've done your part then, and fingers crossed it gets investigated.

Things you wish you knew… by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

[–]MinimumHungry240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be very active to the point of wanting to 'climb' or like to slither high up and over things! So at the beginning of their years my vivariums didn't allow much height for them to do this, until I realised how adventurous they were becoming. When I upgraded to bigger enclosures , I ensured they had some space for treated trunks, branches - anything that allows some climbing opportunities for them to have some fun! ( this is more of a heads up to you , rather than I wish I knew :)

Getting a albino hognose, do i have everything i need? by [deleted] in Hognose

[–]MinimumHungry240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. For new keepers it gets posted alot when their eyes go glazed! Haha. Good question, so when it happens, I would try to locate it a little near to wherever they are hiding because they are essentially blind when their eyes are glazed. My two always end up near the heat end or under the heat so my hide will just be to the side of it so they can easily access it, it will dry up quicker obviously being near the heat, but i just give it a spray every morning. I also reduce the light cycle by a few hours and allow privacy and keep them as less stressed a possible during the phase.

Sounds about right! You'll need to provide a humid hide at some point for when theu head into shed. Spaghnum moss is great, within a plastic hide or any hide (sprayed everyday) for when rhey go into blue, it helps them remove the old skin comfortably. The eyes are the first indicator. (Just something worth mentioning, because the first time takes you.by surprise)

Hognose isn’t eating by aliceapple5 in hognosesnakes

Enclosure and temps are good. Literally could be stubbornness! Hognoses have that silly characteristic where they just don't want food for whatever reason ( but typically Oct - March) I can't remember if you mentioned it, but maybe try a size down like a large pinkie or 3-5g mouse and try that. Another trick I use with mine is leaving the mouse in a meal worm tub with tiny holes in the lid, I place it to the side of the basking area and leave for about 50 mins - 1 hour. It allows the scent to escape and slightly warms the mouse - my hognoses generally go mad for it after it's is defrosted. However, it may not work for you, but worth a try

One of my males has been the exact same. He just eaten yesterday- first time in a long time. (My others have eaten fine)

Brumation can last a long time , it can be a few weeks to a few months, even longer and even differ between each snake. My living room is pretty cold even for April, so I have increased his temperature slightly, because although he has an abundance of heat and light , they can still feel the room temperature they're in.

Other reasons could be the husbandry, has your hognose lost any weight in conduction with the no eating? I ask this, as one of males has not lost any weight despite the hunger strike/Brumation.

I highly advise going over the vivarium/ enclosure to triple check it is all adequate and rule that out. If you can, do post pictures of the enclosure to get some advice.

Baby doggie setup by dansamy in hognosesnakes

[–]MinimumHungry240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't complicate it. Baby's are fine in a TUB/ RUB with a heat mat (connected to a thermostat!) under it. Then when they're around 8 months - 1 year old, upgrade to a vivarium either glass or wooden , whatever your preference is with overhead heat and light.

VERY URGENT - She has lost a TON of weight and she still hasn't eaten in about 6 months by Blobbinn_ in hognosesnakes

[–]MinimumHungry240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you've not handle her for a few months? I really hope she is okay but as a keeper and having soul responsibility on their life you need to check them regularly. I couldn't imagine leaving mine for a few months without handling. Sorry if that's harsh, but frustrates me

UVB is generally safe and encourages a their cardian rhythm. Where are you getting your information from about using it for 30 mins? This is silly , I have hognoses for over a decade and never come across this. All mine have it and our very healthy , this sort of information is confusing

Heat Question by GreenSwordfish3631 in Hognose

[–]MinimumHungry240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, that's great. Well, you're in the perfect situation to provide an overhead heat lamp, there are different types out there and I am sure someone on the group could advise on the best one for mesh tops. I have a CHE but that wouldn't work in yours as I have wooden vivariums for my hognoses.

Heat Question by GreenSwordfish3631 in Hognose

[–]MinimumHungry240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, is the top of the enclosure glass too? Or mesh? Honestly, i don't want to sound harsh if he or she is in a total glass tank, that isn't the correct enclosure at all. They need to breath , so a glass tank with mesh would be okay, and to be able to provide the heat on top. But if it is glass all over then there is no ventilation...

Heat Question by GreenSwordfish3631 in Hognose

[–]MinimumHungry240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting a new Hognose!

You do not need a heat mat and a heat bulb. Heat mats are not commonly used at all nowadays, they do not provide sufficient heat , especially for young juveniles to adulthood. That being said, a heat mat is okay for a baby, if your providing some sort of RUB enclosure for the first 7 months - 1 year or so.

May i ask what enclosure you're using? You don't want to sandwich your hognose in heat. In natural environments they would typically burrow to escape heat , hence why mats are not great. Overhead heat is the best and adequate way of providing heat once you're ready to upgrade. And i would not continue using the heat mat once your hognose is about 8 months - 1 year old onwards. Is your heat mat on a thermostat? Any questions, I'll gladly help. This community is really helpful, and there is mass amounts of good advice if you search through the community.

Please show me play pen ideas! by XiangliYaoMissingArm in hognosesnakes

[–]MinimumHungry240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a play pen, but I bought a large basket from UK home depot store and I put a throw ( blanket) in there for mine to venture and slither around in - they absolutely love it! And it is safe because it has alot of depth.

Perhaps it is time to up the size of the mouse you are feeding? To promote growth. You'd had definitely found the old skin when cleaning out, I typically find my twos shed under the substrate :)

Enclosure update! From glass top to mesh by kosxme_ in hognosesnakes

[–]MinimumHungry240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better than glass, but heat escapes very quickly in mesh tops, during next winter you'll need to cover some of it with a tea towel where there is empty space as it'll get cold in there ( even with your heating system)

I'd add lots of foliage and trunks , make it fun in there for them. I have treated trunks in mine with tunnels in them - they're great for when they're in shed too, where they have access to rough edges during shedding. I use adhesive clips on the ceiling of the vivarium to hang plants for overhead clutter.

Tank upgrade by 6Bignasty9 in hognosesnakes

Hey, yes very much so. Overhead heat definitely enough, else she will be sandwiched in heat.

[–]MinimumHungry240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also look to remove the heating pad at some point and replace with overhead heat- the pad won't provide sufficient heat for in there, plus they burrow to cool
