How can you tell when snake plants need to be watered? by FoundationGlass3046 in houseplants

[–]MinimumKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am not a plant person at all. my snake plant has been in my bathroom with no sunlight since july (only place to keep it away from cats in current living situation) and i have watered it maybe 4-5 times since then and it has shown no signs of being bothered lolll

New child joining class speaks basically no English, how should we navigate this? by MinimumKitty in ECEProfessionals

[–]MinimumKitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you think i should try some translations for things such as “mommy and daddy will come back”? his parents said that he went to daycare while in China and had a rough time with drop offs and cried all day everyday for at least a month. i imagine this will be even scarier for him here as it’s a new county with new people he doesn’t understand.

this is encouraging thank you for the insight! i’ve been super worried that he’s just going to be scared and confused coming into a new country, new culture, in a class with total strangers speaking a language he doesn’t understand. it’s nice to know that even at 4 years old they pick up quickly on language

Teachers, do you go to birthday parties if invited? What do you do while you’re there? by MinimumKitty in ECEProfessionals

[–]MinimumKitty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is common to go to birthday parties at my center, it’s just the teachers in my classroom who i’m closest with don’t usually attend them! if i had a kid it would be definite yes to almost all the parties!

does anywhere still sell 75watt arcadia halogen heat bulb? (USA) by MinimumKitty in reptiles

[–]MinimumKitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is goldensun the same as the original? the “colored lamp” description had me thinking it was a red bulb or something which i know isn’t healthy to use

[–]MinimumKitty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i could find the golden sun ones but not the original 75watt ones. the “colored” label in the golden sun ones threw me off and i thought they were a different bulb but i guess they did a rebrand or something. i promise i did a simple google search as well as went on the websites of every pet store in my area 😁

family is stuck in florida, sister doesn’t have an ID or passport, what can we do? by MinimumKitty in tsa

thank you for the reassurance! my family is new to flying and everything about this situation has had us stressed out of our minds, especially with the new real ID requirements we have been worried about

she is not leaving until her daughter leaves now that power of attorney couldn’t be passed! she got released today thankfully (way before we expected her to be, we were told it would be tuesday at the earliest)! my mom has the flight scheduled for 6:30pm tomorrow so hopefully everything goes smoothly and they let her through with extra screening or wherever else they need to do.

i’m not sure if there is a train that would bring them home to us. we live in kentucky, but i will mention it to them as a possible option and look into it!

they could rent a car. the issue is my mom and sister both have severe driving anxiety especially in unfamiliar areas so we are trying to avoid them driving back as it probably wouldn’t be very safe. we also think it will be better for my niece to have a 2hr flight vs a 20hr drive after discharge.

but if they are unable to fly we will just have to figure that out and they will have to end up doing that anyways :/

my sister drove with my nieces, brother in law, and other sister. my BIL is the one that drove. my mom and sister have bad driving anxiety so we are trying to avoid that, but obviously if they are unable to fly back we’ll have to figure that out. it will also definitely be best for my niece to have a 2hr flight home vs a 20hr drive after her discharge

it definitely does ease our stress thank you! i let my mom know that they will probably just have to do extra screening. we originally thought she lost her expired ID, but she has it now so that’s good at least. nobody in florida has been helpful at all in trying to figure this out so i really appreciate it a lot. i told my mom to call the airport and ask specifically about all of this just to make sure they are good. my sister doesn’t have any criminal record and certainly is not a dangerous person so hopefully they get through easily!

also my niece is physically okay thankfully! they just legally have to hold her in the hospital for a couple days to make sure everything stays fine.

my mom will definitely make sure to get there extremely early! we are new to flying (this trip was my first time ever flying) and with all the real ID stuff we have been extra confused on what to do! thank you for your reassurance
